Meet the Reader: ManeoriX

From your previous answers, are you looking forward to GTA5? What else in the coming year has you salivating?

Oh yes, I’m very much looking forward to GTAV, and I’m sure it’ll be brill.

This year the main one I’m very much looking forward to is Mass Effect 3. I’ve been wanting to play that for a very long time now! Besides that there’s Far Cry 3, Ghost Recon and Assassins Creed 3.

It’s sure to be a big year for quite a few franchises. How about a PS Vita? I don’t believe you’ve picked one up at launch, but maybe later in the year?

I do quite fancy getting a PS Vita, but it’s not really a priority. I have a few other big money purchases I should really make before I consider getting a Vita. Later this year, or perhaps next year I’m thinking. That and there aren’t all that many games I want for it yet.

Really? I’m of the opinion there are too many big games for it!

The only one jumping at me and yelling, “Buy me, buy me!” is Uncharted: Golden Abyss. Besides, if I wait there should be lots more games, and they should be quite a bit cheaper as well.

That’s all very true. Nothing like getting a new thing on day one, though. How did you first come across TSA?

The same way a lot of people did I think. By searching for trophies, or to be precise, the trophies for the original Uncharted. I then proceeded to bookmark the site and I’ve been visiting ever since.

Yeah, almost everyone came here for the trophy lists. You stuck around for the content and community though, right? Do you have any particular favourite front page features?

I stuck around to start with because of the good writing and news stories. Then along came Killzone 2 in early 2009. Bootcamps started being arranged, and since then I’ve stuck around for community aswell.

Off the top of my head I can’t think of any ‘favourite’ features, but I do enjoy TSA’s reviews, so I read most of those.

Killzone 2 had quite a following in its day. We also had loads of competitions run off its back. Do those King of Killzone competitions stand out for you, or do you have fonder memories of taking part in others?

I really did enjoy King of Killzone, even if I didn’t really win, and it was a great initiative at the time as there weren’t that many gaming competitions. The one I have the fondest memories of, though, is the recent DiRT 3 competition which I won. I think I had that as my PSN comment for almost half a year!

Haha, and as well you should! Wasn’t that also a showdown against Spoofer in the final?

Oh yes, it was. We’ve had quite a few battles on TSA, and I don’t think I could have handled losing another one to him!

It would’ve been hard to take from that shotgun noob.

Oh yes, a shotgun one shot kill. That would’ve been too easy, which is why I played with the SMG.

Yes, but you were always in disguise…

That hardly made a difference when you had played for quite a while. Although I do remember using it in one the very first TSA bootcamps. That was hilarious!

I can imagine. With all the good times you’ve had with the community, are there any TSA members that you’d actually quite like to meet in real life?

Indeed, meeting a lot of the TSA guys would be a blast, of which there are sooo many, but mostly the Killzone 2 guys like yogh_wayne, Roynaldo, spoof and even you!

Oh dear, even me? Lets hastily move along, then, to life away from TSA and gaming. What other interests and hobbies do you hold?

I love sports, so I like anything that involves running around, most of the time involving a ball. At the moment I play football and tennis. I also still race go-karts on occasion, but not as much as I used to.

All sounds very active. You’re often tweeting after you’ve been on a long run. Aside from playing sports, I believe you’re also a keen supporter?

Ah yes, I need to stay fit. Although I wouldn’t consider 6K particularly long. I support Arsenal FC, which at the moment isn’t all that great, they are making me rage quite a lot recently. So I try and focus more on the fact that Real Madrid keep on winning.

Oh, are Real Madrid besting Barcelona at the moment? You can tell I don’t really follow it…

Well not really, but they are miles ahead in their domestic league.

Oh, so just a bit more consistent, then. That’s a big part of sporting success.

Indeed, and whole lot more than certain English teams!

When you say “certain” do you actually mean “all of the”?

You’re not all wrong there.

It’s about time that we bring this interview to a close with the final question, which everyone kind of dreads. Now with added Kevatron!

Snog, Civil Partnership, Smother and Shark Attack for the four podcast hosts, Peter, Lewis, Kris and Kev?

I’d probably snog Kev (cos of the whole Drake thing), have a civil partnership with Peter, smother Lewis and let the sharks have Kris!

They’re sharks with lasers, like in Austin Powers. Anyway, we’re done! Thanks for coming along and doing this interview, Manny. Do you have any final words for the readers that got this far?

Not so much. Although I’d like wish you good luck editing this whole thing!

I’ve been doing it as we go along!

Good thinking.

Cunning as a laser shark.

Thanks again to ManeoriX for doing this interview. I’ll see you all next week for the next interviewee.

  1. nice read. I presume that I have been pronouncing your name wrong too :P

  2. Not much of a mention for bf3, thought that was your thing now? Anyway good read and good to hear a little more about you. You don’t say why you changed countries though.

    • You’d have to point that complaint in Teflons direction.

The reason is though, my mother is Danish. So we frequently visited Denmark on holiday, and my dad fell in love with the place. It also has a much better school system, and lots of other similar things which weighted in DK’s favour. So when I was about 7, they decided to take the leap :)

      • So you’re better educated than the rest?

  3. Nice to meet you Manny.
The PS3 is missing a really good rally game, like the first Colin McRae’s, but WRC2 has good car physics and stages although the graphics are a bit of a let down. Was on ShopTo for less than a fiver, bargain.

  4. Nice to meet you Maneorix, I agree the lack of a decent rally game this gen is lamentable. Even HD remakes of some of the CMcRae series would be great. Who knows.. maybe Codies are secretly working on something right now… we can always hope! :)

  5. Matrix and Neo? I would never guess!

  6. What’s the Danish word for “thanks” Manny?

  7. Ha, loving the wording of the second question!

  8. A mixture of Matrix and Neo, clever!

  9. Hey Manny, nice to read a bit more about you. Also, hooray, another person who got their ID from back in the days of Counter Strike.

    • Yeah good times, I had lots and lots of ID’s back then, as you could change anytime you wanted. This the one that stuck, probably because it was so strange and unique :D

  10. Awesome to hear about you Manny! Looking forward to having you in my squad again Friday, hope my flu’s cleared up by then so I can actually shoot accurately…

    • Haha, I wasn’t feeling it last time, I was just far too tired. I should be good to go next friday!
