Tesco Slash Prices Again

Last week the supermarket giant Tesco declared itself ‘The Home Of Gaming’ and cut a number of prices, today even more titles have been slashed.

Deals include Mass Effect 3 and SSX for £24.91, Skyrim for £27.91 and The Sims 3 for £11.91. The offer has also seen a tenner wiped of the price of a PlayStation 3 which now costs £189.

All the offer are available online and in store.

Although cheap, Tesco have yet to beat the prices of market leader Amazon who are stocking Mass Effect 3 for £23.95.

Tesco have been trying to increase their market share since GAME started to flounder, the reborn GAME is going to have a tough fight to win customers.

  1. Skyrim, STOP TAUNTING ME! T-T I hate the fact that the vouchers i have are not accepted in Tesco otherwise, i could get ME3 and Skyrim next week on the same day.

Tesco, in order to the “home of Gaming” you need to stock games from the past year not just the top twenty and Zumba. Also, have staff that know about games as i’ve heard that someone went to get a Vita from you and the staff member had not a single clue what they wanted.

Ooo, could this mean that this could be the start of a fully fledged pricing war between Game and Tesco? As Game really does need to sort their prices out and i think Tesco trying to replace them will be the kick up the arse that they need.

    • There is no way Game could compete with Tesco in a price war under normal circumstance, it’s even less likely with them in the state they are in now.

      • If they weren’t in the state they are in now, i think they would be able to afford to offer more deals. For example, get Skyrim and ME3 for £30, Fifa 12 and Street for £30, COD MW-3 including Blops for £35 etc..

      • Skyrim and ME3 for £30? That’s just silly.

      • lol…. 2 of the best games in the past 6 months for £30 brand new? Lucky to get them second hand for anywhere near that.

      • No need to race to the bottom with pricing, they just need to provide better service consistently & scrape together enough to do something different with their stores at some point, but until then they need to strive for worldclass service

  2. I’ll wait ’till they’re all a tenner…

    • Could be a while before the PS3 is available for a tenner… :P

  3. I was going to come and be all pissed that they always do this when I have no money, but then didn’t see anything I wanted or didn’t already own.

Then I read it again and saw SSX, so yeah, I’m pissed now.

    • yeah…SSX tempts me greatly. Will wait til i sell all these dusty games ive got lying around :)

      • Yep, its expired now :( Was going to use it to order the Max Payne special edition for £67 but stupidly decided to wait until this coming weekend to order it. Since then the code has expired and my car has packed up meaning I can’t order :(

      • No way! I used the code for that exact thing! lol. Luckily I didn’t hang around ;)

      • Worst part is I posted the deal up on HUKD then never got round to ordering it myself! :(

      • Are you actually me?! I was going to post the deal up too but then cba as all the other deals of it got voted cold lol.

      • You may as well give up, Eldave as Elder Mike is known as El Fluffio(Fluffy) in HUKD circles.

      • Haha that’s awesome! Yeah, I live on HUKD but I’d never posted a deal before. That Max Payne deal was too good not to post up however lol :P

    • you can get 15% off if you spend more than £15 too, brining it down to £21something.

      • blimey, that is a bargain isn’t it.

      • You can if the checkout assistants aren’t complete retards that insist the code can only be used online!!!

  7. If there’s no Tesco near you &or you dont want to wait for an Amazon delivery, Asda have some good deals atm.
I bought UC3 yesterday & will be going back for the other mentioned titles(stock permitting.)
    ME3 & UC3 for £25.
    FFXIII-2 – £20.
    Portal 2 – £15.

  8. Ssx mes thinks

  9. Sorry for being a picky and fussy bastard…

    but,

The selection is… great and all but is there any that aren’t like super duper false 9/10 titles or known franchises, I mean how about 3D Dot Heroes and Dynasty Warriors 7 or something I want them more than the big games or whatever thats interested in the past like Majin and the Forgotten Kingdom.

    • You won’t see any of that from a supermarket & are less likely to see them in Game now i suspect.

Online is pretty much the only avenue for that sort of thing these days.

  10. This is part of the reason Game went under. Everybody wants to pay as little as possible but how can a specialist store hope to compete with those prices?
