EA Backpedals On Rock Band Issue, Claims It Was An Error

“Rock Band will remain playable on your device” says a new pop-up that appears when you start the game on iPhone, signalling the fact that EA have officially backed down.

Either that, or – as the publisher claims – it was all a mistake.

“Rock Band for iOS will remain live,” says an official statement on the matter. “The in-app message users received yesterday was sent in error. We apologize for the confusion this caused. We’re working to clarify the issue that caused the error and will share additional information as soon as possible.”

Oddly, the error also caused a fully written up FAQ page to appear, although that’s been taken down. A screengrab of the FAQ is available here.

Regardless, it looks like all will be well for Rock Band iOS fans.

  1. Good to see EA backdown on this, but someone should tell them – no one is buying the “mistake” excuse.

    • “mistake”

      lol

    • Well it definitely a mistake. It wasn’t an accident, though, like they’re trying to say.

    • it seems like EA can’t ever win on tsa.

      • They can win if they buy the ultimate biscuit pack for only £100. And they must buy TSA brand new or we will take away the cup of tea and force them to drink Pepsi. :p

  2. Yeah, I often work for several hours to produce strategies and documentation based upon my boss’s request, by mistake, as well.

  3. It’s quite funny that even the FAQ fails to answer the question of whether it would remain playable (albeit not online) after the cut off date!

    That’s a hellofa FAQ!! XD

  4. They have a heart after all…

    LIE!

  5. i believe it.
just like i believed crytek when they said that comment about preowned games was a joke.
just like i believed that 5% failure rate ms claimed.

in other words, not one little bit.

don’t make me dig out the skeptical cat again?
he’s fraught enough as it is.

  6. Ah yes, EA made a “mistake”, i have dismissed that claim.

EA didn’t want the massive can of worms that they were about to open so thus they went back on their word. Does this mean that they have postphoned their plans for disabling games or have dropped it completely?
