Let’s face it, last year’s E3 showing of the new Wii was a disaster, and Nintendo have done little in the twelve months since then to try to explain what the system is or what it’s capable of.
And that slightly bizarre attitude from Nintendo has started to rub off on gamers, with a survey conducted by Dealnews claiming that 75% of gamers aren’t interested in the machine, from a total of over 1,500 people.
The survey also found that two thirds of current Wii owners aren’t interested in upgrading.
The system is supposed to be getting a fully detailed run-down at E3 this year, along with news on a launch game line-up and hopefully improvements to the hardware limitations (like only one main controller per unit at once) although Nintendo aren’t expected to commit to a price point.

Not not, but after I’ve seen the new Mario game for it, I properly am :P

Seeing as i have an unholy hate of touchscreen tech, i won’t be touching the Wii U. Plus, Ninty will have to get a ton of exclusives and keep pumping out games after release as gamers don’t like spending £200+ on a console only to find out there are no games for it.
Think a certain plumber will be on the Wii U. Hope he turns up on time.

My prediction: The Wii U ends up taking the top spot like the Wii did because Sony and MS fuck themselves by locking out the second hand market with their next generation of consoles. :P

My problem with the Wii U is that Ninty have done very little to promote the console at all and we know basically nothing other than speculation. I’m sure they will change this at E3 though

Being a huge Nintendo fan (well, 3DS and Cube mainly to be fair) I will almost certainly be getting a Wii-U at some point. Whether that is on day-one or not rests entirely on both their E3 presentation and the subsequent price announcement.
At the moment there isn’t a huge amount to get excited about but the idea of playing Metroid Prime, Pikmin, etc in HD is certainly appealing

The general public don’t know about it yet. The core gamers need a killer app, and I don’t see any sign of it, combined with less experience of producing ‘core’ games. I don’t think the signs look good for Wii U, but I wouldn’t bet either way just yet.
Also, to what degree would there success depend on the next MS / Sony consoles… if they drop the ball, who picks it up?

surveys suggest 86% of people questioned never take part in surveys. ^_^

I’m one who’s not interested. Give me the next gen, I don’t need another current gen machine, even if it will have a few nice Nintendo exclusives.
