  1. As if we haven’t waited long enough already!

This irritates me. As a serialised game, they should have 2 or 3 episodes 100% complete and ready to go before releasing the first, so that they have a buffer to guard against issues such as this.

I know “localisation” blah blah blah, but for cryin’ out loud, just release the US English version, since most people speak English anyway – and release localised versions when they’re ready.

    • It might not be Telltale Games’s fault though, remember how SCEE delayed Trine 2 for over two months during QA, while Frozenbyte said it was basically the same as the NA version.

But I agree with you, it would make sense to have the first few episodes ready for release from the very beginning, to avoid exactly this sort of thing.

      • Possibly. But the official replies to questions about episode 2 on the EU blog’s store update article basically say “ask Telltale” – so it seems to be their issue.

See the reply to comment #46 – http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2012/06/27/heads-up-game-store-update-27th-june-2012/

      • yeah, but the eu blog is a waste of bloody space.

the standard response is to blame the developer/publisher.
unless of course they’re the ones publishing the content that is getting delayed, in which case they just ignore the question.
so, no, i don’t believe what they say, once again, the only time the content is getting delayed is when scee are involved.

seriously, this has happened so many times even helen keller can see the pattern.

in the venn diagram of possible causes 99% of the space will be taken up by scee.

      • people seem to forget Back to the Future was the same every week people asking for it and it too was delayed. I will only ever pre-order tangible things – things I can touch that when my credit card gets charged I get.

I have no sympathy for people who bought the season pass as Telltale has a horrible reputation in regards to failing to deliver their product on time…a lesson that should have been learned with BTTF. Personally I’ll wait until all episodes go on sale and then wait some more because the next month it will be a plus freebie

    • Also, when they say it’s monthly and we didn’t get an episode in May, and appears we won’t get one in June, it’s not really on (when I’ve payed for the season pass).

      • agreed mate, really annoyed about this, although I reallly enjoyed episode one, I kinda wish I hadn’t of brought the season pass.
Oh well by this time next year we get episode five……if we are lucky :)

      • I know, it’s a real cock up

  2. Where is the fallout from the supposed “monthly release”?? Who’s accountable? If I pay for a subscription to any other digital form of media I expect to get what I thought I was paying for, if not, then their should be some sort of grievance process, apology, explanation. Thoughts anyone?

  3. I predict we won’t see episode 2 untill christmas 2019. ;) I would have thought if you are going to do an episodic series of games, you would make sure that you have 2-3 episodes ready for release then release them either fortnightly or on a monthly basis to statsify the fans whislt you work on the next episode. It could be worse though, Valve could have been the publisher and Valve time is very different to our concept of time. 1minute is a 1 day, 1 day is a week etc… ;)

Hang on, if there are only five episodes then why not work on all of them before releasing the first one then release one every two weeks?

    • Obviously the games episodes are a bit like DLC but erm… serial. Build the game first then get to the contents for the next parts perhaps. They wouldn’t have like 3 or 2 down during the 1st episode, I’d hazard a guess that Telltale are not big enough or its just SCEE….

      Yeah Scee

  4. i was going to boycott this becuase its taken so bloody long, but i am such a TWD fanboi (comics, not TV show)

  5. It seems far too long wait already. I can hardly remember what happened in episode 1. Unless its good I’m going to regret buying the season pass, was expecting an episode every 3 weeks or so. :(

  6. I’ve asked Telltale what’s going on.

  7. Least they’re sticking to the TV series method, by taking a good 2 months for something to happen…

    • Lol!

To be fair, it’s a shambles. I’d be properly pissed if I’d bought the season pass.

      • This is exactly the reason why I didn’t buy the season pass though, and also why I didn’t get COD Elite. You just can’t rely on these things being released with the regularity that is needed to get your value.

  8. Finally got round to playing the demo for part1 last night. Wasn’t what I was expecting but thoroughly enjoyed it all the same, to the point that I replayed it to explore the different dialogue trees. Once most/all of the parts have been released I think I will have to make my first XBL purchase in a very long time :)

  9. Really liked the first one and looking forward to carrying on. I agree with lots of peoples opinions though that the gap between episodes has been a bit too long

  10. Right, well i’m going to buy the season pass now i’ve seen more than one episode released. I was worried they would abandon it or something, stranger things have happened. Seems that they hadn’t fully developed the second episode when they released the first, this is a mistake. I can only hope they have the third ready a little quicker. The negative feedback from consumers should be enough to send a rocket where the sun doesn’t shine.
