The Secret World Now Available, Gets Flashy Launch Trailer

Officially revealed over five years ago, Funcom’s latest MMORPG, The Secret World, is ready to spill the beans. Having launched earlier today, the game combines traditional genre conventions with a unique backdrop. Aligning with one of three factions, players explore a modern world enveloped in a web of conspiracies and dark legends. Features include a story-driven approach to gameplay, with character progression relying mainly on skill-training and not just straight out grinding. Persistent PvP warzones and the Cabal guild system are also highlight to watch out for.

MMOs have been a huge talking point of 2012. At the beginning of the year, enthusiasts were no doubt evaluating EA’s last big-budget MMO, Star Wars: The Old Republic which is due for an update over the Summer. Bethesda has also made waves with the official announcing of The Elder Scrolls Online (TESCO, to some) leaving critics questioning how far the traditional MMO template can be stretched. The same can be said of Project Copernicus, though the prolific closure of 38 Studios, Big Huge Games and the following aftermath has stolen the spotlight since.

  1. I was interested in this game untill I’ve heard that it has subscription. Guild Wars 2 has spoiled me I guess…

  2. I’m loving this game, subscription or not…… and even GW2 will find ways to part you with your cash, you know.

  3. Cthulhu at the end! Cool!

  4. I really liked this game, but a subscription + cost to buy the game is too much for me :c
