iPhone 5 Could Be Announced Next Month

Most people assume that Apple will hold back their next iPhone until the usual September / October window. However, this year that’s apparently about to change following some recent rumours that Apple want to combat Samsung’s success with the Galaxy S3.

KnowYourMobile is claiming, via a ‘reliable industry source’, that Apple will unveil the next generation phone on August 7th at a special keynote.

No details have been revealed by the source, sadly, so there’s only the recent leaks of the phone’s casing to go off, but it’s safe to assume that iPhone 5 will have a larger screen and another processor boost.

It’ll also come with iOS 6, which is currently only in beta.

We should stress that these claims are, as yet, unfounded and several other “in-the-know” outlets have implied that the August 7th announcement date would be very unlikely. It won’t be long until we find out.

  2. 2 days before my birthday. If they release it in August as well I know what I will be getting.

  3. Please have Senseg, seems unlikely as they stated that it would probably be Q1 2013 but a man can hope…

That looks like the iPhone *6* to me. Could be called the “new iPhone” like the 3rd gen iPad, though.
