How GTA IV Looks Better Than GTA V

PC mods are nothing new, but this one – iCEnhancer for GTA IV, really pushes the boundaries on what user-created modifications can really do.

Watch the video above, which shows off the ‘final’ version of this particular mod, and then have a look back at those two GTA V screenshots.

Which do you think looks better?

Sure, you’ll need a decent gaming PC, but the presence of licensed vehicles, massively improved lighting and some ridiculous textures makes this – in our opinion – hugely impressive.

A link is expected soon from here.

  1. Are the vehicles in this actually licensed?

    • No they’re downloaded mods that have been created by users.

      • That’s what I thought.

      • Most of the GTA mods out there have been lovingly crafted and I can’t wait to see what comes out of the GTA V modding community.

  2. Never got to installing this on my GTA IV… after the PS3 version, it look infinitely times better on its own.

  3. Who was it saying we don’t need next gen yet? Bet they have a cat hanging of their tongue now.

    • Some people don’t believe it’s needed because of stuff like uncharted and GT5, but some of the processing on those are a bit poor due to the outdated GPU engines.

I’m slightly tempted to ditch console gaming in favour of the more graphically pleasing PC counter-parts.
It’s not this is what you’ll get with this hardware, it’s this is what you need to play this at PS3 quality, and if you have better it’ll look better.

In a relevant statement, I’m hoping the PC version will ship with the console versions, if so, the PS3 won’t see that game.

      • I’ve not long got into PC gaming after an impulse “drop a bomb on upgrading my PC” moment. Now I could not be happier about the decision. So much so that I’m downloading BF3 later to soak up the better visuals.
But I think I will still keep gaming on the consoles. Uncharted, GT, Forza, MGS etc etc are all experiences I would never want to miss.
I also like how consoles just “work” with pretty much everything and are a singular place to get it all done. PC running Steam, Origin, Games for Windows LIVE really bugs me! Not to mention organising party chat and game invites; enter TCP/IP address, dance around in circles, hold the keyboard upside down and click your heels 3 times – and you’re in the lobby!
This is why I am looking forward to the Origin update and hope Steam community is simplified too. But load up Skyrim PC next to Skyrim 360 / PS3 and it’s a no-brainer :-)

    • I don’t need next gen yet. Having far too much fun with this one to give a damn about graphical prowess.

  4. This mod is quite old now I believe as well, meaning they could probably do something better, if they could push it as much as this modder did, but consoles wouldn’t be able to handle it.

    • The mod is old (TSA reported on it for version 1.2 last year), but this version (2.1) was just released today. The creator has dedicated their time to improving it.

      • Oh, okay I haven’t watched the trailer as I thought it was the same one.

That’s awesome that’s he’s still putting time into it. This was a badass mod when I looked at it before, but I don’t have a gaming PC unfortunately :(

  5. If they can do this with GTA 4, imagine the mods for GTA 5

    • Vehicle renders so detailed it could be Gran Turismo Auto 5 =)

  6. Impressive trailer.
In the GTAV trailer, there’s an Audi minus manufacturers’ badge, which is promising.
So it looks you can expect a full range of authentic(ish) cars.

    • GTAV trailer. 57:13, is where you see a blue Audi.

  7. Anybody have specs?
    Might be interested.

    • No, but I could pop you a contact lens out…

      • I see your sense of humour is as great as your eyesight.

  8. Really cool. V impressed.

  9. Picked up the Steam bundle of all GTA games & expansions for next to nothing, getting iCEnhancer to work with the Steam versions of GTAIV was so much hassle I never bothered. Shame.

  10. I sure i saw this on here ages ago…

    • Yeah, you did – It was a previous version of the code though.

      See Jas-n’s post above. :)
