Hey, Look, A “PS Vita” With Built In Emulators And Running On Android

You know what they say about flattery? Well, this is something else.

Regular, real PlayStation Vitas are locked down in so much that they can’t run Android apps natively. This one can. Normal PS Vitas also don’t have built in emulators for all manner of retro gaming including N64 and PlayStation. This one does.

The Droid X360 – as it’s known – comes with Android 4.0 installed, a decent enough 1.5GHz processor, 512MB of RAM, 8GB onboard storage (so no need to buy a memory card), an 800 x 400 high resolution touchscreen, HDMI-out and various ports, cameras and control inputs.

I kinda want one.

  1. At least it has more games! :D

  2. So, where can I buy one of these?

  3. not sure how responsive the controlds re implemented. the player is jamming on those buttons yet on the scren it seems that so little happens. it does have more games than the vita though…i give it that

  4. If Sony worked with hackers and the people behind homebrew they’d get a lot more done as well as please more people.

    • I’d say the PS Suite is a nice compromise for that…

      • Yeah, i guess i’d say so too :)

  5. X360 – don’t think that will go down well with Sony.

    • Don’t you mean Microsoft?

      • Both i’d imagine.

Another dirty Chinese rip-off most likely.

Damn because they have a monopoly on rare earth minerals and cheap labour they think they can falunt patents/IP’s.

  6. It’s basically an Android device in a PS Vita body.

  7. Motorola, Microsoft and Sony patent infringement rolled into one, easy to use device!

    • ..And yet I’ve never wanted a rip-off Chinese device so much.

  8. It still has the start and select at the bottom, wtf… thats not..not.. good. No sale.

    • Yeah, the real all-in-one device! I’m quite sure there’s an Apple’s patented technology hidden somewhere…

      • Ops, sorry! This reply was meant for bmg_123 above! ;)

  9. Ooh…Yeah! :)

  10. i kind want one too.

though maybe next time they get somebody who knows how to play games to demo the thing.

an android device with proper controls instead just a touch screen would suit me down to the ground.

the hdmi output is a great idea too.
makes me wonder why sony didn’t put a video out option on the vita.
the machine can do it, when they’re demoing games at the shows they always output direct to those big screens.
probably saving that feature for the next version of the machine..
it’s a tactic that’s worked well for nintendo.
