Final Fantasy XIV 2.0 Trailer

This is Square’s new trailer for Final Fantasy XIV, or at least the updated version of it. This new build, dubbed 2.0, will be the version that ends up on PlayStation 3 next year.

“Since announcing our plans for the future of the title last October, we have been working tirelessly to include all of the elements that we have promised in FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn,” said Naoki Yoshida, producer/director.

“This new title not only becomes a symbol of a completely new FINAL FANTASY XIV, but also marks the beginning of a new stage as the latest title in the FINAL FANTASY series. I hope you’re looking forward to it!”

A new website has also been launched.

  1. Anyone getting this? Still have it on pre-order from Amazon for £7. If it remains that price, I’d like to join a group or however these things work…….. :D (never played an mmorpg before)

    • I probably will – it looks EPIC! So many shiny bright lights!

    • I’m deffo gonna give it a try on ps3- and hopefully its better than the current PC version.

    • Hell yeah I’ll be getting it :)
Had kinda given up hope of it ever coming to PS3, so this has brightened my mood somewhat!

      • Never played an mmorpg. i will give it a try for a month and see how i get on. so count me in to any plans. :)

      • erm, reply fail. was supposed to be for mikey :/

    • Yup.

    • Day 1 for me on the PS3,even though I have the collectors edition for the PC, which is still valid and only needs the new patches.

    • Yup, I’ve got the same preorder ;)

    • I’ve still got it on preorder for Amazon too.

  2. Poor choice for a narrator. It still made want to play it.

    • Agreed. That “style” of narrator is so overused it’s become a cliché that should only be used for action comedy/parody.

  3. Pre-ordered. I wonder if it’ll support cross platform play. And how well.

    • I think it will be cross platform. They did it in FFXI and that way the servers will be filled with more players.

  4. Is this free to play or is their a monthly fee? And if it’s free to play is it like DC Universe where you don’t have to pay to win?

  5. Looks good but seeing as i refuse to even so much as sneeze in the direction of a MMORPG, i shall give it a pass. :) But the plot does sound generic. Disaster happens, only the best of the best survive, there is a war afterwards and they all have sex afterwards to celebrate winning.

    • From what I’ve played on the PC the story isn’t generic at all and you have multiple storylines that are all connected (3 nations + job specific story lines). If FFXI is anything to go by this will be epic.

    • There’s a half cat female race in the game, you’d like it.

  6. Might give this a go. Hopefully they’ve done enough to the game to actually make it “good” this time round.

  7. I went back to this game after giving up on it 3 weeks after it’s release…. my partner however refused to give up hope on it and we both reactivated our characters just in time to get the Legacy bonus (I think 3-4 weeks ago). The game has improved tremendously since its original release – it’s clear they’re putting a lot of thought into the development. I do still worry about how much they managed to balls it up in the first place, however given the scope of improvements I’d say 2.0 is shaping up to be something special indeed! :)

  8. all very exciting and that, but i’m not gonna buy a game on the strength of some prerendered video.

when they show me the game and give me details that show they aren’t making the same mistakes they made the first time around, maybe then i will be interested.

the worst thing for me was the whole limited missions energy timer thing.
that’s what freemium games that sell currency to shorten the timer do, not a sub based mmo.

make it free and i could accept the timers, but not for a sub based game.

  9. I’ve played it, was good. PS3 version but…. eh we’ll see about that.
