Bethesda have tonight explained why Dawnguard, the first major expansion to Skyrim, hasn’t yet been released for the PlayStation 3 despite the Microsoft embargo being up.
“We are not satisfied yet with Dawnguard’s performance on the PS3,” says the blog. “We would like for everyone to have a chance to play Dawnguard, but we aren’t going to release it for PS3 knowing that some people’s experience in Skyrim will be worse.”
“We do everything we can to have our content available to all; from our free updates, to user mods, to paid DLC. We’re as disappointed as our fans when that isn’t the case, but we’ll continue to push for that reality.”
Dawnguard released on Xbox 360 last month, and is available from Steam from today.

I find it pathetic that so many developers still can’t develop for the PS3 properly 6 years later. Hurting their brains is it?

I suppose it must be annoying for devs that the PS3 architecture is so different to the 360s, meaning they can’t do quick and easy ports (well, they can, just not good ones…)
If Sony have an ounce of sense they will keep things simple next gen, as its them who lose out in the long-run when their platform is seen as the worst for multi-format games.

and yet indie developers can make games that run on both the ps3 and psp…and some (like in 1 guy in his bedroom can make a game that runs on xbox and ps3 – Beat Hazard Ultra for instance)
I think I may prefer Sony’s complex system after all it plays Blu-rays while I had to buy a separate drive to play HD films on xbox- which is now a dead medium

But with the PS3, graphics got better every year. It was nice knowing a upcoming game will have improved graphics.

Looking forward to Dawnguard, but it seems like I have a bajillion and one things to do as it is!!

hopefully you wont be required to navigate any water in it, the last patch turned all the water in my game into Crash.

There’s a fix for that, but it’s annoying.
You have to delete the game data and redownload and install patches. Lovely, eh?
