Recently-troubled UK retailer, GAME, is getting everyone in the mood for Summer by flogging over-priced games, it seems.
Punters who buy a selected game from the £14-a-pop list can trade it back in and grab another for just a quid (or if it’s your first swap, nothing.)
Games on the list include:
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
- Assassin’s Creed II
- Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
- Call of Duty: World at War
- MotorStorm Pacific Rift
- Duke Nukem Forever
- Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine
The offer is only valid until September 13th, which basically means you’re renting two games for £14 from a rather limited choice. Personally, I’d for Boomerang/LoveFilm.
Of course, if you’ve yet to play any of those listed above it could prove to be worthwhile. After your first trade, you can keep bringing your Swap Shop games back and trading them for another at the fair price of just a quid.
It’s also worth pointing out that all games are pre-owned, meaning no online passes or added content.

Just got the email before reading this and thought great. Checked it out and instantly closed the window down. Good selection of games if you haven’t owned a console yet.

Saw it in-store last week but didn’t take much notice. There’s one or two newish games up there but the rest is old hat.

In theory it’s a great idea and could give them the boost they need. It’s just a shame that the way it’s been implemented is not going to get them the sales they want.
As I said, I got excited when I saw the offer but the game selection for me has made it redundant.

I see a few of the games in this promotion have had their prices increased for it.

Yup. Tomb Raider Underworld for example: Brand new 3.99, pre-owned 14.00
Nice idea but incredibly cheeky.
Origami Killer
I could probably buy all of them for 99p each on ebay!
Nice idea but not a good selection of games sadly :/
Jim Hargreaves
Exactly. Most of these are dirt cheap elsewhere. Hell, I got Space Marine a month after launch for £14. New. Not pre-owned.

I bought warhammer new for a tenner, i now also have it on digital thanks to ps+ instant game collection. Game shud really take stuff like that into account before finalising such a poor list. Only game i would consider rebuying would be ac2

Yet another example of the stupidity of the game management that forced them into such a poor financial position.
hazelam
saw it in the store, but nothing appealed to me, at least nothing i didn’t already have.
The Lone Steven
Pretty sure that you can get them all for a tenner. That is a bit of a crap promotion, Game as chances are anyone who wants any of those games will just buy it off Ebay or borrow it off a mate.
freezebug2
What a joke, games of yesteryear without any DLC or online passes where required that can probably be picked up in a Cash Generator store for a couple of quid (maybe that’s where they’ll come from anyway lol).
Seriously though, the Game business plan is like a spoof episode of The Apprentice with Game being on the losing team……….GAME, you’re FIRED!!!

GameStation (the ones that are left) are doing a brilliant deal on a £10 psn card, trade games from a list similar to that and pay 99p and you get it. Bargain.
Origami Killer
GAME did the same deal not so long ago, it was advertised on their website as being in stores, so off I go down to my only Cardiff Store now and they tell me they have heard nothing about the deal. Really shit management, pissed me off so much.

Given I came out of Blockbuster with 4 games (three of which are on GAMEs 14quid list) for £20 total this seems a bit of a ‘meh’ deal to me. Added bonus was that all four games had working online passes :D
