Unsubstantiated next gen rumours: Yawn. Anonymous sources: Not to be trusted. But, Sonic? Yay!
With that in mind, I bring you a totally unconfirmed report that a new Sonic game will be announced next month and it’s going to be on a lot of platforms.
According to Sonic Stadium the game will ship on Xbox 360, PS3, PC, Wii U, Vita, 3DS and next-generation systems, “anything involving these new consoles is strictly confidential to people at the top of the company.” The 3DS version will be “similar in idea, but smaller in scope.”
The game is said to mix 2D and 3D sections over at least twenty stages, not including boss battles. Characters will be unlocked as the game progresses – as you might expect – and each stage will have multiple routes and exits.
The mysterious source says that “all in all, the games look very promising at this point” and it looks like the title will be released in the Autumn, conveniently just in time for those rumoured next gen consoles. Remember those?
February 2nd is apparently ‘Hedgehog Day’ (no, me neither) so there may be a teaser on that date.
Even if this is completely made up, it’s a fairly safe bet that Sonic will be appearing next gen and we have not had a well-loved, traditional hedgehog game for a while.
