This week sees the release of some of that lovely Skyrim DLC that PS3 owners have been waiting so patiently (or not) for. Dragonborn will arrive on the PSN in North America and English-speaking parts of the PAL regions (EU, AUS and NZ) as part of this week’s PSN Store update, with Hearthfire and Dawnguard arriving over the following two weeks.
Those staggered releases will be welcomed to PSN with a 50 per cent discount for the first week they’re on sale. That means discounts from £12.99 to £6.49 for Dragonborn and Dawnguard, with the less substantial Hearthfire dropping from £3.99 to £1.99. PS3 owners had assumed that this discount, announced on the Bethesda Blog, was by way of an apology for taking so long to get the DLC to them. That’s not the case.
Microsoft mouthpiece, Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb, has disclosed via his company blog that those 360 owners yet to buy into the epic fantasy game’s DLC will also see a nice 50 per cent discount between the 19th and 25th of February. That puts the more substantial Dragonborn and Dawnguard DLC packs at 800MSP (roughly £6.80) and Hearthfire at 200MSP (roughly £1.70).
Tardy Xbox 360 owners will also get the chance to partake in discounted DLC for Bethesda’s other take on the Elder Scrolls universe, Oblivion, with Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles DLC available at a 50 per cent discount too.

I was totally going to buy all of this DLC until I heard this. Way to make PS3 players feel appreciated bethesda, and to think I actually believed you honestly felt bad for the PS3 delay. I know I’m not entitled to any special treatment or deal, but a genuinely sincere act like a PS3 only sale would have gone a long way with me to keep me supporting you even when every game you make is buggy as hell. I also realize that 50% off is the price I was excited for last week and technically and mathematically, nothing has changed. It just would have been nice to be treated as something other than an inferior PS3 gamer in bethesda’s eyes fore once., something I thought was happening when they announced the 50% off sale for PS3.

I wonder if MS forced them to apply the discount or if Bethesda doesn’t know what an apology is. The 50% off is meant to be their way of saying “yeah, we fecked up and we are sorry” to PS3 gamers. They treated us in the same way that SCEE treats us. If they do Fallout 4, i may not be inclined to pick it up untill the GOTY edition is out as Bethesda and PS3 do not go together. But knowing me, i’ll like what i see and buy the bugger on day 1.

Then you are the perfect example of our culture in gaming. Happy to whinge but happy to buy the fucking things even after trying to take a stand. :-\

Not bothered about what the xbox is getting as i dont own one , i see us getting the DLC at half price as a good deal and dont feel hard done to as im not all fanboyish over what console i own , all very childish to get a nark on over something so petty .

If you go to the PS3 store and look under Games>Latest>New this week, Dragonborn is there. It’s near the bottom, I’m downloading now… Don’t try searching for it, it doesn’t come up but it is on the webstore as well.
