Whilst poster and retailer leaks are hardly uncommon, they do appear to have spoiled Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed IV reveal a little, forcing the publisher to publicly confirm the game yesterday. They also confirmed the embargo date for recent press events, which is next Monday.
Stay tuned for TheSixthAxis’ take on what the game is all about.
However, the latest leak for the game (assuming it’s not a carefully managed PR build-up, of course) comes from Ubisoft themselves, who had, albeit temporarily, put up some information about the game on their own website. Snapped by GamingEverything, the page (now removed) says that Black Flag is “also coming to next-gen consoles” in addition to those confirmed (including PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii U) and a release date: October 29.
Worth noting that unless Ubisoft send out another statement today confirming this new info the above data could just be placeholder, but it’s unlikely. Black Flag looks set to feature pirates, and comes just a year after the last game, Assassin’s Creed III.
We’ll have all you need to know about the game, or, at least, everything we’ve been told, on Monday. Unless all that leaks out too.

Why do they bother. AC3 was good but it was a buggy mess that’s unbecoming of a £40 game. Every year the game gets bigger, and every year they release and there are more gaps in the fixtures. It’s getting boring.
Awayze
Milking their franchise now aswell.
Kennykazey
PS4 it is then. I wish they’d rest the series for a bit and bring it back with a massive next gen experience. AC1 was somewhat of a defining experience this gen.

Will this game even be worth it? Are we sure its not brotherhood style game? just throw the number 4 on it and people wl lap it up.
Doesn’t seem a long enough gap from 3 till 4 to warrant a full title, I love assassins creed tho i feel they are well and truly ruining the franchise now :(

Man, the cynicism around this release is practically palpable! I appreciate where it comes from, and I definitely agree that AC3 was buggy as hell, but I think that the Assassin’s Creed franchise has been handled pretty well up until now. Whilst there have been some mis-steps, Ubisoft seem to genuinely iterate on the formula each time (which has sometimes been to the detriment of the overall experience) and have included new approaches, gameplay modes and features at almost every turn.
Compared with some of the other mega-franchises about, which seem much slower to progress the general formula, I can get excited about Assassin’s Creed in a way that I never would with GT, GTA, CoD, Killzone etc.

I’m more interested in the rumoured new vita AC game for this year. Liberation was a lot more enjoyable than AC 3
Avenger
Agreed. It would be lovely to see another AC game on Vita. If they do one hopefully they’ll tighten the fixtures (aka fix the fps).
Kennykazey
And add MSAA to smooth out the jaggies. Apparently the Vita can do that very cheaply.
Eldur
I too enjoyed Liberation. A slightly more fleshed out sequel with less of the arbitrary touch features would be a very interesting prospect.

I guess I’ll pick up AC3 towards the end of the current generation and then get IV for the PS4. Great!
