Development Ends For Skyrim

Bethesda have confirmed they are moving on to their next adventure and ending the development cycle of Skyrim. That means no more DLC.

Skyrim was a massive hit when it released back in November 2011, with it’s launch seeing 7 million units shipped and an estimated $450 million of sales. As it coincided with the release of Modern Warfare 3 it never managed to reach the number 1 spot on the UK sales charts, but at nearly 18 months after release it impressively remains within the top 20.

There were three sets of DLC for the game: Dawnguard, Dragonborn and Hearthfire. The PS3 versions, however, didn’t appear on the console for quite some time afterwards, which we had a little moan about at the time!

Skyrim received a lot of praise from TSA. Peter scored the game highly in his review, and later Aran went on to share his experience of the game in the 5 part classic of “The Adventures of Strongfury“.

So do you have any stories to share of your adventures on Skyrim, that was of course, before you took an arrow to the knee?

Bethesda has also started teasing its next project with a very brief, looping Vine clip.

  1. I just never felt it reached the dizzy heights of Oblivion. Something was missing which just niggled when I played it.

    • I was late to the party with Oblivion so I didn’t understand all the praise. It’s never happened before…but the graphical quality (in comparison to skyrim) put me off playing it.

I just couldn’t get into it.

  2. The next game apparently is not going to be a new Fallout game. When asked via Twitter someone at Bethesda replied “guess again”. At least that’s what I’ve read on GAF…

    • BASTARDS! I’ve they dare not make a new Fallout and come out with another piece of shit like Rage (I know it wasn’t developed by Bethesda) then I shall burn them with my eyes.

    • I was just looking at it and that’s only about the Vine teaser that Bethesda put out and Pete Hines specifically says “You talking about the Vine thing? Guess again :-)” So that doesn’t rule out Fallout 4 being made, the new project could be FO4 and that teaser to be with something else, but with the timing it is unlikely, so I shall have to cry my self to sleep tonight.

      • (sorry for so many posts)
That vine thing has come from the publisher side not the dev side (they’ve said nothing about that teaser) so a Fallout 4 could be on the way, and it probably would be a bit early to be teasing what ever they are working on.

You can probably see how much I want there to be a new Fallout.

  3. Fantastic game. There is a few things I was disappointment with though. Exploring the dwemer ruins always ended in disappointment…I would have looked to have found something unexpected as a little treat but no…just empty ruins. I also found the guild missions to be more enjoyable than the main campaign….especially the thieves guild missions.

  4. love this game still playing it can not wait for there PS4 title.

  5. I miss Strongfury.

    • Me too, his (mis)adventures were hugely entertaining.

Dust him off for a Christmas special? ;)

  6. Still have yet to pick up Skyrim and will probably pick it up for the PC over the summer given all the problems the PS3 version had.

  7. Still playing Skyrim. I’ve brought all the DLC packs but I’m yet to delve into Dawnguard or Dragonborn as I intend to get all of the core game quests/side quests out of the way first.

Built the biggest house possible in Falkreath though, and also adopted 2 children. I’m also rocking the new ‘Ancient Nord’ armour and weapon set.

  8. Hopefully this means a GOTY pack will be around the corner, I played it on ps3, but really want to try it out on PC with all the dlc

    • That was what I thought when I read the article. Fingers crossed.

  9. Bought the PC version, but spent more time in the settings menu then playing the game…

  10. aren’t we still waiting for the latest patch on the console versions?
the one that effectively raises the level cap so you can now earn all the perks?

we’re still getting that aren’t we?
i’ve got the ps3 version and i’d like to think that i could conceivably unlock all the perks at some point.

    • I think that was out a few days ago?

      • oh, i’ll have to have a look later.
