EB Games Poster Blows The Doors Off Battlefield 4 – Date, DLC And Commander Mode

As usual when we have a leak without any official word, we advise a decent serving of salt with this. That said, a reasonably convincing “internal promotional” poster from EB Games in Australia has surfaced over on B4Central.

It shows some of the suitably warrior-strewn artwork with a nice mix of orange and blue to accompany the stubbly, sweaty, warmonger. But that’s not really the interesting bit. The interesting bit is in the text and what it gives away.

First up, the Commander Mode, which was a kind of tactical overview whereby one player in a team could coordinate their teammates via top-down viewpoint. It was last seen in Battlefield 2142 back in 2006.

There’s also a bullet point for the Premium service, with the first DLC mentioned as Drone Strike. They use up the remaining space to point out that the single player campaign will be exciting and that their Battlelog 2.0 system will track in-game performance, which we’d hoped and assumed.

It’s not clear whether this was made by EA or put together by EB Games themselves (which I find more likely) but it uses high res key art from the game and carries publisher and developer logos, although no mention of the PC as a platform.

Oh, and the date? 31st of October 2013, which is a Thursday.

  1. So glad that the “brand new” Commander Mode is returning – so many happy hours in BF2 and 2142! A good commander can make a massive difference to the flow of a round in a Battlefield game, whereas a bad commander never completely ruins the game, so it’s win-notlose if not a win-win.

Now they just need to bring back Titans!!

    • “win-notlose” is an awesome phrase, consider it stolen (or pirated, at least)

      • To be honest, you weren’t going to buy it anyway, so that’s a total “notlose”.

  2. Commander mode will be brilliant. This will be the only EA game I buy I think. Even then I’m waiting until its out before buying.

    • That’s what makes it hard to boycott a company you really hate. There’s always that one game that makes you forget your principles.
So much for wishing EA to die a slow and painful death. :P

      • Sadly, there’s no way EA can fail. They can burn through money and still sustain themselves on FIFA sales alone. FIFA takes an astronomical amount of money every year, and FIFA Ultimate team packs generate them even more. Way, WAY more than you think.

EA might waste a lot of money but they have deep ass pockets. Fortunately they also have DICE, so they can spend some of that football money on lovely Battlefield games!

  3. Haven’t witnessed the ‘commander’ mode but sounds interesting. In all honesty I’d be happy with a next gen polished version of BFBC2 to play online. I felt quite ashamed with myself when I realised I’d put over 500hrs into it online and ignored the pub and my guitar. Next time I’ll try and cater for all 3 by wearing a beer dispensing helmet full of whisky and quickly strum a death riff every time I die.
Hmmm… forget bout woman – strike the beer dispensing helmet, I’ll employ a Barmaid.

  4. Can’t wait for this. Never played Commander mode in older BF’s so really looking forward to seeing it implemented.

  5. I can’t wait this is going to be awesome! And I can’t wait to try Commander mode, that will be cool.

  6. Still wish for an hd remake of 2142
