Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Blackbeard Figure Up For Pre-Order

Right, full disclosure: I love Assassin’s Creed. I love the historical settings, I love the attention to detail in the environments and I love the shady conspiracy theory narrative. So feel free to assume that anything else I say here is simply a symptom of my adoration for this series, rather than any objective view of the facts as they are presented.

The figures for Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag are brilliant! They’ve already announced Edward Kenway, and there’s the special edition version of the game that has an Assassin on the bow of a ship but today sees a new one, to compliment the new Historical Context video above. It’s Blackbeard, the legendary pirate (and, I assume, either an Assassin or a Templar). Look at him there, all piratey and bearded. Blackbeard appears amid some ancient Mayan ruins, apparently.

The figures come with codes for some extra digital content for in-game, although we’re not entirely sure what that is just yet.

There are also three new concept art images today, which show a suitably humid-looking caribbean and the beginnings of an assassination attempt.

  1. If you look at the figure, you can see the Assassin’s insignia right by his feet, although that doesn’t prove he’s an assassin.
I’d love to see some PS4/Xbox screenshots, hopefully they’ll use the nextgen assets on the PC version too, the previous PC versions have only had marginal improvements.

  2. Who buys this mediocrity?

They are probably working harder on the 2015 installment of the series.

  3. Must not pre-order this edition…..damn you Peter Chapman… damn you.
    =P

  4. I really wish Ubi just made a pirate game with out the Assassin’s tie in, and really worked on it being and open world piratey experience that are very few in gaming.
