Sony Stock Price Jumps 8% Following Xbox One Event

The Xbox One event has just wrapped up in Redmond, and we’ll have a full round shortly.

However, following the conference Sony’s stock price has jumped 8%, while Microsoft’s has fallen by around 0.2%, which doesn’t really look like the reaction Microsoft were hoping for.

The upper hand

This change could be an indication that investors think that Sony have the upper hand in the build up to the launch of the next generation of both company’s hardware and were disappointed by what Microsoft had to show of the Xbox One.

While Microsoft have shown that the Xbox One is a technically impressive machine, their lack of focus on games may be dissuading investors, as well as their media centric approach today.

Of course this reaction could all switch by the time E3 rolls round, where both companies will be doing their utmost to impress.

  1. Was expecting this.

Xbox One is truly an awful ‘games’ console.

  2. More of a ‘Non-event’ wouldn’t you say?

  3. It’s called ‘Xbox 0ne’?!?! Are MS going backwards, does it play games off CD’s then?!?! LoL:D I just switch off my Laptop at 6PM & just put it on now because that is how much i dislike MS :D

  4. Hmm, that’s a bit of a kicker as I was left preferring the Xbox after both shows. Need some prices before I decide but this could be a deal breaker.

    • …and of course this was meant for the second-hand restriction article :D

  5. I’m shocked – i really though Microsoft would give Sony something to think about today .. apparently not. I haven’t watched the press conference yet but now i’m thinking that i really haven’t missed anything.

    • Yeah, I thought MS had something up their sleeve. Guess not. They actually did Sony more favours than harm.

  6. Some one really needs to tell MS that there are countries outside of the US, also no one cares about kinnect.

    apparently they faked the applause.

    ^_^

  8. Also, why do Americans always feel the need to shout and cheer everything, its a console reveal not a bloody sports event. The amount of cheering in that conference felt like an canned laughter on a poor comedy!!

  9. Thankyou Microsoft for making my purchasing decision for the next gen so easy, really hope it works out for the 3rd Xbox names “Xbox One”……good luck with that.

  10. tv features only available in US at launch

however Microsoft says that it is “anticipating a global launch over time.”

    which could mean anything.
