Forza 5 Will Run At 1080p, 60FPS, But Other Xbox One Games Don’t Have To

Forza Motorsport 5, announced at Microsoft’s Xbox One reveal, will run at 1080p, 60FPS, according to Turn 10 Studios’ content director John Wendel, speaking to GameSpot. “I believe we’re uniquely positioned to deliver on that challenge. We’re a huge epic game that’s going to be running at 1080p, 60fps on the next-gen console, so it’s an incredible opportunity.”

However, other games won’t have to stick to these two requirements. In an interview with Edge (with subscribers now), Phil Spencer stated that “it’s important we give creators the best tools to create the best experience possible,” adding that he doesn’t think “platform holders can dictate what the internal frame buffer size should be.”

“Forza 5 runs at 60 frames per second, but other people will make different trade-offs,” he said. “Resolution is not the thing that maximises beauty.”

  1. 60 FPS is a must for proper racers, and they can’t have a flagship next generation title run in 720p can they? I’ll be fine with 1080p @ 30 if its rock solid and v-synced in most games next gen, but not in a racer.

  2. Sounds like this gen. MS bigging up 360, ‘An end to jaggies, 720P gaming’ etc Halo 3 a flagship 360 title, runs at 1152X640, no A.A etc.

Besides this gen, Alan Wake was what 540P? and looked bloody stunning, the numbers alone doth not maketh a good game, creativity and inspired design are what i’m looking for.
