UK Sales Charts: The Last Of Us Still On Top

The strength of Naughty Dog’s latest sees it hold on to the top spot in the UK charts for a fifth straight week, coming after last week’s news that it had sold more than 3.4 million copies and become Sony’s fastest selling new IP. Of course, there aren’t many new titles out right now to compete at the top, but it’s still rewarding to see such a fantastic game getting exactly what it deserves.

It held off the charge from Animal Crossing: New Leaf and new release Mario & Luigi: Dream Team Bros. both of which push the continuing strength of the 3DS. Beyond that it seems to be your usual mix of FIFA, Assassin’s Creed, Call of Duty and so on, with Aliens: Colonial Marines seeing a somewhat baffling upswing, to reach 10th place.

The top 20 chart is below:

  1. The Last of Us (Sony)
  2. Animal Crossing: New Leaf (Nintendo)
  3. Mario & Luigi: Dream Team Bros (Nintendo)
  4. FIFA 13 (EA)
  5. Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition (Microsoft)
  6. Far Cry 3 (Ubisoft)
  7. Call of Duty: Black Ops II (Activision)
  8. Assassin’s Creed III (Ubisoft)
  9. Tomb Raider (Square Enix)
  10. Aliens: Colonial Marines (Sega)
  11. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (Bethesda Softworks)
  12. LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes (Warner Bros)
  13. Need for Speed: Most Wanted (EA)

  17. Grand Theft Auto IV (Rockstar)

  1. Aliens must have had a price drop! I played through it once and that was all I could take.

    • The massive Collector’s Edition is £13 on Amazon.

I bought one just for the power loader figure :D

  2. Incredible! Naughty Dog probably bought a bunch or Margaritavilles after initial sales figures came in and now they’re just on a constant Margarita buzz until the sales slowly die down… I should apply for a job there…

  3. Aliens is down to a tenner at some places. I keep on seeing it and thinking.. it can’t be THAT bad.. but then remember it is.

    • Maybe if they drop it to a fiver, it’ll hit fifth?

    • The Collectors Edition has also been heavily reduced so you will get the collectors buying it up (including me) so that also may explain why it is sitting so high in the charts.

    • I’ll buy it when it’s a fiver no matter how bad they say it is. Just like I did with AvP (and I quite enjoyed that).
