The Batman Arkham Origins panel at the San Diego Comic Con has just finished, and a quite a bit of new information has been unveiled for the third game in the Arkham series. The panel featured DC’s Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns, WB Games Montreal Creative Director, Eric Holmes, the voice of Origins’ Batman, Roger Craig Smith, and voice of Joker, Troy Baker. Blackgate’s director, Mark Pacini, was also present.
Robin will not be present in Arkham Origins as it is too early in the timeline for his inclusion, but Batgirl was teased as a potential included character. On the villain side of things Copperhead, an assassin in the comics who uses the attributes of a snake, was revealed as part of the group hunting Batman along with the other confirmed villains such as Black Mask and Deathstroke.
Speaking of Deathstroke, and you missed the news from a couple of weeks back, there will be a Deathstroke DLC pack which is a pre-order bonus. The pack will include challenge rooms made for Deathstroke to tackle, two skins for the character, his weapons and two extra challenge maps.
Some more Arkham Origins Blackgate details were also revealed such as the fact that this game’s plot will take place after the events of Arkham Origins. DC Comics’ Chief Creative Officer, Geoff Johns, said, “The story for Blackgate really starts to open up the DC Universe.”
Seems like a bit of a cryptic statement. He could just mean that Blackgate expands on Batman lore, or maybe there will be small cameos or nods to other DC heroes and villains? I suppose we won’t find out until the game is out.
Some Sony exclusive skins for Batman Arkham Origins were also revealed during the panel, which were the Classic TV series and Knightfall costumes. Other skins that aren’t exclusives include the Worst Nightmare and Batman One Million costumes.
They were the main details to come out San Diego this evening. Arkham Origins will be releasing on PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U and PC on October 25th. Arkham Origins Blackgate will release on PS Vita and 3DS.
