WRC 4 will feature “improved graphics, new weather effects and a revamped career mode”, along with all the rallies from the 2013 calender and fullly licensed teams and drivers.

The game will be showcased at Gamescom this August before a full release on the 30th October. No next-gen release is planned.

The WRC video-game franchise has sold more than 7 million copies since its initial release in 2002.

  1. I just want V-Rally. Pretty please! :-)

  2. Great, the series has been improving steadily with each iteration.

    • Agreed, I play the demo each year and notice solid improvements, but they release it during such a busy period I never end up getting it.

  3. Just started playing WRC3 on Vita, I’m really enjoying it. I don’t like the handling on the console version compared to the Vita version.

  4. I’ve always been a fan of rally games, even though I have rarely played any…
I’ll probably wait for the first next gen installment, though. 30th October is cutting it pretty close with the release of the PS4 so I’ll be pretty busy with that.

  5. WRC 4 will feature “improved graphics, new weather effects and a revamped career mode”, along with all the rallies from the 2013 calender and fullly licensed teams and drivers. – That doesn’t sound like an inspired update. I almost fell asleep ready the details.

  6. That sales figure makes me sad.

You know, what with that figure including all those excellent Evolution Studios developed, Sony published, WRC games on the PS2. All of which are better than any of the Milestone WRC games.

That being said, I still play the current games and they are decent, if a little lacking in character. The career mode structure didn’t really need to be fixed, nor the graphics, but the vehicle handling, sound and the way it saved/loaded every 19 seconds being the main bugbears.

  7. Wow, so soon. Only seems a few months since playing the WRC3 demo from the store. Don’t know how good the career was with WRC3 but on the first two WRC’s it was a borefest of the highest order and the only real enjoyment was with online play.
