Sony has wrapped up its Gamescom stage show with a firm release date for the PlayStation 4.
First, they announced some little price cuts for the PS3 basic 12GB model. Then they outlined the cross-generation deals that net you digital versions CoD: Ghosts, Battlefield 4 and Watch Dogs on PS4 at a significant discount if you’ve already bought the PS3 version. They talked about how the Vita would allow remote play of any PS4 game and how that would reinvigorate the handheld.
But we were itching for that date so thankfully it wasn’t long until Andrew House – via a couple of sly digs at Microsoft’s flip-flopping – got to the point.
The PlayStation 4 has over a million pre-orders already and will launch in 32 countries during this holiday season. The date? 15th November in North America and 29th November in Europe.

Makes sense for them to focus on the most disputed market (America), mainland Europe is mostly pro-Playstation so they’re probably confident enough there (and MS is delaying the One in several European countries too).
Still not decided when I’ll get one, but it’s good to know the next gen is nearly upon us!

Well andy house let off a biggest clanger in game history in gamescom if it true you say that andy should keep his gob shut.
In Sony/SCEE years we have been treated like shit I & others always knew that we EU are the “biggest market” that what big gob andy house said.
The idea is never Ever pissed off your fan base & biggest markets but Sony fail over the years.
I loath MS but they release game EU & USA on time as well as steam on time. :)

I can’t believe I’ve gotta wait till after my birthday, only 4 days mind. I knewa few people that was making the switch over to Ps4 but now MS have done the deal with fifa they’ve switched back. :@

Maybe they’ll be able to get the terrible online running properly this year with the magic cloud.

I’m just glad they’ve teamed up with Virgin for the bb so I should have a tremendous connection.

Interesting logic.
Pay £80 more to get a ‘free’ £40 game.
Meanwhile, PS4 provides two free games with PS+ (something surely a Fifa player would want), along with literally dozens of other free games.
The mind boggles.

32 >>>>>> 13 launch countries

I myself do not mind the difference of 2 weeks with release and might even have a benefit as others have mentioned regarding bugs etc.
The problem I do see is that those that didn’t preorder before the cut off last week and are in the so called “2nd Phase” and as PS4 will release on 29th November i do not think they will get their console before Christmas. There will be a few disgruntled parents!!!
I have one preordered months ago so “should” get one on launch day. I wouldn’t do it but I expect to see some huge prices on eBay.

I’m happy with that, now i can book my days off! :)

Disappointed with that date. All the rumours had really got my hopes up for an October release. Still gives me an extra few weeks to clear up a few of my old PS+ games.

I thought October but it’s not all bad as there’s plenty on PS3 to keep me busy until the end of November.

Yeah Would have been nice but looks like ill have to hammer GTAV a bit longer.
JR.
I would have liked it earlier but the 29th is fine by me.

Pefect date for me, can wind down PS3 with GTA and Beyond then straight into FIFA and Killzone ob PS4

I’m also a bit disappointed with the release date. I feel early October would have been perfect, the end of November is just too late. Will they be able to keep up with the demand in the run up to Christmas? When does the console launch in Japan?
