2K Games and Firaxis have announced XCOM: Enemy Within, a fully-fledged expansion for last year’s strategy game reboot. It will be launching on November 23rd for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. The publisher has yet to confirm a price.
The expansion will deliver an all-new chapter to the XCOM experience as agents tackle a spread of diverse missions to push back the lurking alien threat.
This time around things are different. You’ll still be scouring for alien tech and weapons though agents can be further developed by altering their genes. This is where the “Enemy Within” part comes into action.
By combining human and DNA you’ll create a new breed of soldier, equipped with an array of unique abilities to use on the battlefield.
A new resource known as “Meld” is also up for grabs. However, the valuable material comes in capsules that will detonate, forcing players to ferry it across the battlefield with haste.
Personally, having hammered Enemy Unknown for the past few weeks, I can’t wait to get my hands on this latest expansion.

Great game. Bloody hard though, need to redownload it & try it on easy.

Playing it on normal at the moment.
Just save the game whenever you think you’ll run into trouble. Works for me :)

Try playing on ironman. Brutal, soul destroying, etc.
I found a good guide with a strategy that will hopefully help.

I’ve just started again on easy mode myself. After 3 failed attempts on normal mode I had to.

Satellites are your friend!
RocketSOL
It’s the first thing I built this time round. I always forget and the 20 day construction time makes me build something else instead. Clearly a big mistake!
RocketSOL
Awesome. Definitely getting this! I can see many failed attempts to finish this game as well.

I got XCOM free when I preordered Bioshock Infinite on Steam.
Installing now and gonna give it a bash…on easy by the look of the comments here! :)

You’ll almost certainly need to start a game and see what effect things have, then restart a fresh one when you’re more confident.
Build times are important. Reading a strategy guide shouldn’t spoil too much, recommended if you want to save time.

Oh, and forgot to mention, I got it free on PC with the same deal, but prefer it on PS3 – actually handles better with a controller and is awesome to play just lounging on the couch. It was free with PS+ a while back too.
MadBoJangles
It says on the store page (steam) that it has partial controller support, so hopefully I can do the same :)

Aye a rare case of Turn Based game what fits prefect on console with a controller.
Now port Civ 5 :D
damoxuk
OMFG.
Is this real? am I dreaming?
Best game of past 5 years gets an expansion.
I think I have just blown my load and is it wrong for me to be more excited about this than PS4?
Because TAKE MY MONEY NOW.
MadBoJangles
Hehe, was just about to send you a link to this article dude!
RocketSOL
It’s a shame its not coming out on PS4 really. Would be a great launch window title!
damoxuk
Maybe the sequel :D
Also this game would be perfect for Vita.
RocketSOL
Good shout. It’s perfect for the Vita! If they can make one for the iPad then surely it’ll work on Vita as well.
