GAME Has Sold Out Of Xbox One Day One Editions

The stock allocation for the Xbox One Day One Edition has been reached at GAME, which means you can no longer pre-order that version of the console from the retailer.

The company also released a small statement about the standard Xbox One, and the pre-order status for that.

“The standard edition console is still available to order, although we can no longer guarantee you will receive yours on launch day. As soon as we can confirm when the standard edition is available we’ll let you all know.”

Something at gamescom must have really caught the attention of people who were on the fence. That was most likely the FIFA 14 promotion where the game would be available with all Xbox One pre-orders until stocks lasted. A very good promotional move by Microsoft then.

It appears the window for ordering a next gen machine in time for launch is shutting quickly, with the PS4 already not guaranteed for launch on new pre-orders as a limit has been placed.

  1. Let’s all guess at the number of day one units Game had available for sale. My guess is 3.

    • I would be a bit more generous than that…..7.

    • Indeed whilst Sony are giving out real number (well over a million), Microsoft have lame partial sellouts at one particular store with no information at all about numbers.

Realistically, for the UK I would be surprised if their totals for pre orders was more than 5k

The fact they are offloading them onto staff is a worrying sign.

Expect the midnight launch lines in London Manchester and Birmingham to be full of Microsoft staff just like last time, all bussed in for for the PR circus, pretending to be genuine customers etc etc etc

      • Lol you do write some rubbish. So can you prove these queues of people was ms staff? Or are you just making it up being a sad pathetic childish Sony zealot AGAIN.

      • Yes I was employed by PR company that Microsoft use, we were all transported to the Manchester game store in the arndale centre. We were told what to wear, namely designer t shirts etc and guides to look cool, what to say and how to act whilst in the line, and given cash to buy an Xbox360 and 3 games, one of which had to be PGR3, we had to hand all the stuff back when we got back on the bus, but were paid overtime for the PR stunt.

I know for a fact the same happened in Birmingham (other people from our office were sent there). I also know the Microsoft staff from reading covered 5x central London sites, hmv, game and gamestation.

The whole Xbox 360 launch was a carefully executed hype stunt. If you got wrapped up in the hype and now feel cheated, I can only apologise.

      • Jimmy Hill

      • Hunter is right, I remember reading about this happening and people coming forward at the time who were hired by MS.

Please don’t be a part of the Microsoft Defense Force and try to defend such disgusting practices.

    • Still no release date also maybe they are trying to find a dinghy to ship the uk allocation over? :D

But it has been sold out at Amazon for a while but looking at total sales in ranking of gaming goods PS4 is like 3 compared to Xbones 25.

      • The lack of a release date is quite interesting. We all thought that Gamescon would see the big reveal, like Sony’s PS4, but that came and went.
Has anyone heard of an MS press event at all? I doubt they’d wait until the games show in Japan to reveal the date, particularly as Japan’s not a primary territory for MS.

  2. I’d love to see the numbers involved in these. It’s easy to say day1 stock is sold out if you only got 2 per store.

And before I’m questioned, the same applies to PS4 preorders

    • I bet you there will be less XBones manufactured than the PS4 anyway, due to their manufacturing problems.

      • Manufacturing problems are a rumour.
But that aside, they can’t start mass producing (for the US at least) until they get FCC approval, which they still haven’t applied for. That, to me, is the bigger potential issue. Especially considering Sony has had approval since June or so.
Whilst I’ve no doubt Sony will have more consoles at launch its also a marathon, not a sprint.
Still, considering how MS went on about PS3 vs 360 sales numbers (ignoring the 1 year head start) will be interested to see their post-launch response. I predict a lot of rhetoric with no hard numbers (which, in fairness, they’re not obliged to give)

      • Yes, rumours. Hence why all of those European delays because of ‘localisation’ issues right ;)

Microsoft are being transparent about it all, because if they admitted outright that they have manufacturing problems, the delayed countries would feel even more shafted as it’d basically be MS admitting – you’re not profitable enough for us, we’re focusing on bigger areas, cheers. Of course they’re not going to come out and admit it, but we all know that the manufacturing problems are most likely true.

      • What manufacturing problems is that then?

      • Here’s a link to one of the rumours and an explanation of what it may incur – but remember this is just a rumour.

      • Have we seen any game running on Xbox One hardware yet? apart from Killer instinct, hardly a demanding game. Even BF4, with its ‘sponsoring’ by Microsoft, has even been seen on PS4 (aswell as PC). Live Assasin’s creed/Division demo’s as early as E3, yet not on the Xbox One. Maybe nobody wants to be ‘that guy’ who says we should delay the Xbox One.

      • Seen quite a few stories about MS’s ESRAM problems over the past week or two. Seems more likely than the localisation excuses they came out with (which would have been known about before they started shipping the original xbox).

      • @SLUMMO

The ones that other people have linked to :)

  3. God you’re a miserable lot aren’t you! At least the console is selling out so we can put to bed the whole “low demand” theory.

    • Not without numbers (and that applies to both sides)
Extreme example but I’d they only have 10 consoles for the whole of the UK selling out is no big deal, yes? And no indicator of demand, correct?

And I believe most people when saying “low demand” actually mean “lower demand than the PS4”
And while evidence seems to support that assumption, without numbers it’s all rhetoric anyway. Currently there’s nothing solid supporting either claim.

      • Yeah but realistically its going to be a big amount, I’m guessing 60% to 70% of the PS4 numbers. Its just that some people here across as literally frothing at the mouth with hatred for xbox1, desperately looking for the negatives in any story. (not pointing the finger at you, they know who they are)

      • Starman, you said it yourself, you’re guessing. So the 60% to 70% figures are pure gess work, just as much as my slightly sarcastic figure of 3 units for pre-order.

The point here is that unless we have figures then the statement regarding GAME selling out of pre-order stock has little cutting edge to it apart from the fact that they’ve sold out.

      • Yes but I think my guess is a bit more likely than 3.

    • Not miserable, just realists.

Until they can provide figures, it means nothing. At least Sony have provided us with some figures regarding pre order numbers – even if they aren’t exact.

      • But why so obsessed with the figures?

      • It’s a bit concerning that they’re not willing to reveal figures though.

Whilst we’re at it, let’s get no businesses to reveal figures. See how that works out.

      • Microsoft tend to only release figures when they’re well into the cycle of a product. It would obviously not look good if they said 750,000 for example as all we’d hear is “PS4 outselling XB1”.

Sony do a similar thing with the vita figures, merging them with psp sales rather than put the actual number out there so it can be compared to the 3ds.

You’ll just have to wait for your confirmation that ps4 is ahead!

      • The worst thing about some fanboys is when they start to form an instant defense force, where anything negative said against their company (in this case MS) is viewed as a personal attack that they must defend against. In nearly every article this seems to be you.

I want figures. Sony has released them, MS should also. I don’t care if Sony have higher pre orders, I want the figures. It’s unsettling as a potential customer to not know whether you are boarding a ship with a leak or not.

      • Let me clarify, by that I mean a major leak. If PS4 is beating XBone pre orders, then so be it. But if it were ahead by a very, very large margin then I’d be worried.

      • I’m no fanboy, I’ve just put across a less negative opinion than a few others here, sorry to rock the boat. I’ve got a Ps3 & vita as well as a 360 and use the vita most. Apology please.

      • Oh and Yiddo as you’re clearly not getting an x1 I’ll ask again why so obsessed with the figures?

      • Way to assume. I’m actually definitely getting a PS4 and thinking about an XBone.

I had to laugh for a second there, you actually thinking you know what I want. Quite funny.

No apology, as that is what you come across as to me. I’m just being honest. You could say I’m a Sony fanboy, and I wouldn’t demand an apology.

      • I only backed up what I said with more clarification, don’t get why I was labelled a fanboy for this. And after all you’ve said theres no way you’ll get an X1. And lastly I’ll point out I’ve been plenty critical of MS in other posts, check the ms point story from yesterday for example.

      • Ok better get this in too, you find it funny I assumed you were getting a ps4 & not an X1. I thought it wasn’t an outrageous assumption since you so nothing but praise Sony and slag off everything MS do.

      • To be fair Microsoft make it pretty easy to make fun of and hate. Trying (and fortunately failing) to kill physical media, forcing an accessory on you. Amongst other things.

As for comparitive figures, don’t Gamestop’s allocation numbers tell you alot? Although not sure if true, obviously.

      • Given that Microsoft have been shouting numbers at any given opportunity this gen. You can read ALOT into the lack of numbers in this press release.

      • Guys – get a room!
Think the whole numbers thing and sales and release dates etc are a waste of time because the first lot of sales will be the hardcore (like us lot). If M$ released 1 million pre-orders they will likely sell 1 million, same with Son¥. if M$ only sell 750,000 its likely because thats all they had to sell. First x millions will be guaranteed no matter the quality or state of the machines.

Bit like when a band releases its second album after its massively selling first. Even if its pants, the first wave of sales are guaranteed…

  4. I have one preordered alongside the ps4 mainly due to my personal situation and with economics being what they have been i cannot guarantee that being the case a year from now.
That being said the launch games across the board that most appeal to me are Dead Rising 3,Watch Dogs and Killer Instinct with Killzone also being a must have.
Whatever happens i feel microsoft have dragged xbox through the mud this year to the point where the purchase almost feels mundane.

    • A bit off topic, but I watched Old Boy for the first time a few weeks ago. Fucking awesome film.

      • Old boy is epic! The X1 is still available at the Tesco near me, whereas the PS4 has been unavailable for almost a month now.

      • Although eating that octopus alive hmm…

      • I was heading off topic anyway i think Yiddo but lets face it number crunching pales next to a decent flick:).
I do absolutely recommend the trilogy if you’ve not seen it (the vengeance trilogy).
My personal favorite was Sympathy for mr.Vengeance.By the way Yidd i have to ask,is that you on that avatar?

      • Yeah, i’ve been recommended the trilogy. I’ll need to watch them all soon!

And no, it isn’t. I am male lol. Her name is Yolandi and she’s from the South African rap group Die Antwoord. They’re a bit of an acquired taste though.

      • Definitely going to track some of that down thanks for the info. She is,well i guess you know:P

      • Yeah, she’s amazing :P

  5. oh no, what ever will i do now. >_>
    ^_^

  6. Damn, just put my pre-order in over the weekend as well.

PlayStation guy at heart but I’ve decided I wont allow myself to miss out on anything this generation, even if it’s going to cost me a fortune come November :(

    • I was thinking about both. I’ve decided on PS4 and PS Vita, with an Xbox One in a years time. We’ve seen no gameplay but Sunset Overdrive looks very interesting.

  7. Phew, got my order in just in time then (ordered Friday afternoon after work). Told myself over and over not to buy one right away and wait for TitanFall, but the free FIFA tipped me over the edge.

Both consoles will do fine this Christmas. Sony has the great PR to shift plenty of units to core gamers (reduced price helps), while Microsoft has a stunning launch lineup for those who love Microsoft exclusives or haven’t been following the games industry too much.
