Amazon have broken the street date for Rockstar’s upcoming title Grand Theft Auto V, dispatching copies at the weekend or even before, with photos of copies appearing on twitter and Instagram days before the release date of Tuesday.
Naturally, Rockstar aren’t very happy with this, as they requested every online retailer to hold back from sending out the copies until Monday, so no one would post spoilers and potentially ruin the experience for others. They said in a statement to GamesIndustry International:
We are in the process of investigating early ‘sales’ to determine how and why that is occurring.
I doubt Amazon are going to come under fire from this – a smaller retailer might – but given that they’re the biggest online shopping website in the world, Rockstar are hardly going to cut their supply.
This means that it’s likely most people who have ordered from Amazon will receive their copy tomorrow, with high street stores having to wait until at least midnight before selling copies of the game.

Well if anyone is from the west midlands (Cradley Heath) then you can pick up your copy from game store today. But they want £50 LOL!!

Just got back from hols, with everything crossed for a warm welcome from GTA V, alas it’s not to be. So I’ll have to sit through the entire day at work waiting for time to pass agonisingly by instead.

Really don’t think Rockstar will do much more than tut Amazon and give them the ‘very dissapointed face’, you know the kind you give your dog, when you find he’s shat on the carpet…..
What’s the bigger concern to Rockstar? OMG people getting to play a game they’ve paid for, a few days early or the fact that 360 version was leaked out onto net a while back?.
If Rockstar did ‘ban’ people, how would that go down i wonder? because are these not the very same people Rockstar no doubt will be trying to sell GTA DLC to down the road?.
Besides personally don’t think Rockstar are in great position to get on any high horse/moral ground due to cough, ‘links’ between them supplying exclusive cover art to certain magazine (ahem, sounds like hedge…) in return for min.score of 9/10 for it’s products…..

I’m mad all my mates have had the email about the dispatched order, I order mine on the 14th and still no email I have paid the extra £5 for 1st class delivery.
If anyone knows why I have not yet had my email about the dispatched part please reply, Thanks
