Yesterday the box art for Destiny was unveiled and with it a hint towards what seemed like Beta information, which followed rumours that one would take place. Today a new trailer has been revealed for the title, confirming both that a beta will take place, and the games release period of Spring 2014.
To access the beta you have to pre-order the game from a selected retailer, with UK stores like Amazon, Smyths Toys, Tesco, and Blockbuster granting participation in the Early Access Beta according to the Destiny website.
I’m not 100% if that just means ordering from them gives players extra time with the beta with customers of other stores joining later, or whether that means just pre-orders from these stores grant access to the beta. The official site also lets you place orders with GAME, Gamestop, Grainger Games and Sainsbury’s without indicating beta access.
We’ll try and get some clarification from Bungie about that.

I don’t know what it is, but I’m just not that excited for it. Which is strange considering it looks like a mix of Halo, Killzone and Borderlands, which sounds great.
Do you think I’d be able to pre-order it to get access to the beta and then cancel my pre-order? It would be good just to get a taste for it if there isn’t going to be an open beta.

wasn’t P+ meant to give us full trials for every game or something along those lines? So shouldn’t we be allowed this when the PS4 arrives?

I saw that the Amazaon.com preorder came with Beta access (I think they updated it too early) so I preordered it from Amazon.co.uk just to be sure.

I’m not sure on this. we’ve hardly seen any gameplay and from that trailer I personally think it looks a bit….meh. It looks like Halo in a different skin, even the aliens look the same and fire the samish guns.
I dunno, think I’ll leave this, too many other games out there.

Well, there will always be similarities. They created Halo so their design roots are clear. If this ends up being as good as Halo, then it might just end up being (one of) the best FPSs that has ever graced a Sony console.
