DICE: Graphical Parity For Battlefield 4 Is “The Cowards Way Out”

Battlefield 4 executive producer, Patrick Bach, has said that the team at DICE are doing everything possible to enhance each specific version of the game.

“You could take the coward’s way out, and just set the bar at Xbox 360 and PS3, and make it so that all games look the same on all platforms, but that’s not who we are. We want to do our best with the hardware,” he said.

“We are pushing the PC, we’re pushing the Xbox One and we’re pushing the PS4, and also making sure that the Xbox 360 and PS3 software looks amazing, way better than it did for Battlefield 3.”

Multiplayer producer, Aleksander Grondal, has also talked about enhancements made for Battlefield 4 on PlayStation 4 and has described the share button as “a super cool thing for us.”

“The ability to share has been on PCs for a few years and people have done a lot with it. So I am super excited about people sharing their Battlefield moments on PS4. It will create a much more interesting sphere of social interaction,” he said.

Aleksander adds that they have “experimented” with PS4 touchpad but “haven’t exactly nailed how we want it to behave just yet.”

  1. He forgot to add:

‘And people on forums etc will still p*ss and moan and say it looks sh*t and why is’nt PS4 version running at 1080P? without having a clue what the game is actually pushing out on a console with a £200-ish graphics card..and we’ll be left wondering why we bothered to put the extra effort in, they are all going to play COD:Ghosts instead..bunch of moaning f*ck…..hang on! is this mic still on?’

    • I think I love you. :-P

    • ha ha, very true. The BF forum is a ridiculous place now. It’s full of trolls and PC morons always slating consoles. If they can manage 720p or even 900p with 64 players on screen on big maps like the PC version, then I will be dancing on the ceiling.

    • Actually he said exactly that, I just didnt quote that bit.

“It gives me a flashback to Battlefield 3. We had that problem even back before the next gen consoles, where we made a game that looked amazing on the PC – the better the PC, the better that game looked – and then you had a game that looked amazing on PS3 and Xbox 360, but it didn’t look as good as on PC, and people kept nagging us about that.”

“It was like, you should compare it to other games on the same platform. And people said, ‘OK but still – why doesn’t it look as good as on PC?”

    • Best rant ever

  2. As soon as the next generation of kids decide social networking isn’t cool any more, Twitter, Facebook, etc.. will crumble into obscurity, people will stop wasting vast chunks of their lives staring at their phones, attempting to re-affirm their existence and the world will be a better place. It simply has to happen. Social networking and ‘sharing’ is a thinly disguised marketing strategy designed to profile everyone and then force feed us yet more bullshit advertising. The next generation will take back control. Viva la revolution!

    • I think by social intergration he means sharing of videos and the like. It’s massive on youtube and I like to watch the odd video of people having great moment on the Battlefield. I’ve never shared a video of me playing before, but always thought I would like to. Now with the PS4 I can upload to my profile or twitch and people can watch my “totally awesome” moments too, or I can chose not to.

Thats the point, its a choice.

    • Yeah I think I agree with Bilbo that the guy meant sharing content in the same way that people from TSA share screenshots in the forum, or if the capability was easy to use, videos that have stood out for them rather than Facebook etc.

Although I do think you have a point in general about social networking, although I wouldn’t say it’s going to disappear but instead mature more and stay away from the awful things you tend to see on Facebook such as these. I’ve made sure the people I follow or I’m friends with online are the type of people who actually share interesting things to discuss rather than telling me every tiny achievement or feeling they have, and it’s much better for it.

    • Take my miners hat off to you tactical, spot on with your comments. I signed out of Facebook over a year ago now, such sad sad people. Was making me think bad of genuine friends so pulled the plug.

  3. Loving the look of this. If this really is PS4 footage I may have to give it a go

Battlefield 4 will be delayed till spring next year!
