While the PS4 version of Call of Duty: Ghosts runs at 1080p, at least going by IGN’s video coverage which was broadcast at this resolution, it appears as though the Xbox One version may have a lower resolution of just 720p, which isn’t really ideal for next generation gaming.
This comes from a few reliable sources on NeoGAF, including famousmortimer, thuway and forum moderator bishoptl, so there’s no confirmation (though we should find that out quite soon) other than what they’re saying.
Cryptic as ever, cboat jumped in on the action, saying that this is known, and Titanfall will also have the lower 720p resolution.
It’s all still up in the air, but with Battlefield 4 currently at 720p on Xbox One, and with 1080p in extreme doubt for that game on either next generation platform, things aren’t looking very good for cross-generation titles.

So your paying nearly 5 ton for slightly better graphics and more players per map

Ohhh silly internet, how quickly you forget COD and screen resolutions this generation.
C.O.D (upto and including BLOPS) was running at 1040X600 on 360 and 960X540 on PS3, it was what you tech-heads call ‘sub-HD’ i believe and gasp on 2 consoles claiming to herald the HD console generation and you little rascals you, you bought the games in your droves and the map packs and the same map packs, but for the newer games. That old devil resolution did’nt worry you then my little lovlies did it?.
BLOPS 2 had resolution going upto 880X720 on 360 and 864X720 on PS3 and by then series for my goodself felt bloody stale, putting things like attack dogs (not good call in things like Shadow Dancer, so if it don’t work for Ninja’s…) in 1080P at 60 FPS, doth not a great game make….
Gonna drag out me old classic here:It does’nt matter if it’s shit running at 1080P, 60 FPS, it’s still shit…just faster, crisper looking shit, but you would’nt want to come home and find you’d trodden into the new carpet, now would you?.
The serious point buried in there is:Hey kids..COD engine improved over the years on 360, bet it will on Xbox One, so don’t fret.

Its more than just resolution, if this had happened the other way round it would be far less of a shit storm. Fanboyism yes but who in their right mind would stick up for Microsoft after what they’ve done. I value a balanced opinion but when the other side has smeared your face with shit and expects you to like it, I say fuck em.
I don’t get the carpet bit btw, I am lost and thinking way too much about poo. : )

Agreed, fella. Seen it all before and we’ll see it again. Just interesting that the shoe is now on the other foot – or at least that’s how it appears to be panning out.

The resolution by itself isn’t the problem. The problem is that it points to a lack of grunt by these new consoles. CoD (and pretty much everything else) can run just fine at 1080p on even quite old PCs. If the next generation of consoles cant even compete with a 3+ year old PC then that is worrying.
Although, from what I’ve seen of the hardware specs, they should be able to achieve 1080p easily, so I’m not quite sure why they seem to be having trouble.
mclarenrob2
Is it just cross-generation games or are the PS4 and Xbox One destined for 720p games again?
coruscant
Isn’t more likely that the PS4 version was upscaled by the console from 720p?

PS4 has been confirmed for native 1080p. Still waiting on XB1 confirmation.

So wii u o’s not as bad as people thought. 1080p for ghosts on wii u.
I have every console out to date starting for the first good gen and that was SMS and the NES. Microsoft dropped the ball. May get one eventually but for me Wii U Ps4 and PC this round.
