EA Reveal Next Gen Golf Game, Tiger Woods No Longer Involved

EA have “made a mutual decision” with Tiger Woods and the golfing star’s name will no longer be included in the title of future PGA Tour games. The reason for the end of the partnership, which first began with Tiger Woods PGA Tour 99, was not elaborated on.

“We’ve always been big fans of Tiger and we wish him continued success in all his future endeavors,” said Daryle Holt, VP and GM of Golf at EA Sports, in the blog post detailing the future of the franchise.

The first screenshot of the next gen EA golf title has also been released with a comparison image of current gen, and there is quite the major difference in terms of detail.

The most obvious differences between the two versions is the amount of detail present in the next gen shot. The visuals are a lot sharper and the amount of objects present is increased. For example look at the difference between the flowers on both, and the water too.

There’s no mention of a release date or if another golfer will be the cover star for the game or if EA will simply call the game EA PGA Tour,  but more information is expected soon.

  1. Looking forward to this. Tiger Woods as a franchise has gone downhill a little this gen, I’ve played every one for years and it’s lost its polish. Hoping the change of title and next gen platform will give it the kick up the arse it needs.

    • TW has definitely seen better days but it’ll be a shame to see the label go, I played it way too much back in 2007, good times. And there go my dreams of a Tiger Woods Golf & Personal Life Simulator.

  2. What a lovely difference in the screenshots. General fidelity is also massively increased, if you ask me, too.

I think, Tiger probably wanted more time away from video games so he could concentrate on sinking a set of entirely different holes. Good for him. :-P
