Don’t expect Titanfall to come to PlayStation next year, or even the year after that, or any time at all really unless it’s in the next next generation where super high definition remakes of first person shooters are the norm.
You see, in a conference call to investors, EA’s CFO Blake Jorgensen said that Titanfall is “for the life of the title” exclusive to Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC, rather than a timed console exclusive for Microsoft’s platforms.
Previously, Microsoft’s Larry Hryb said that he was “not worried” about the fact that the game may make its way to opposing platforms, so it seems likely that was because he knew there wasn’t going to be a PS4 version after all.
Titanfall will release on March 13th 2014 in European territories, and comes with a £250 collector’s edition. So they’ll lose out on quite a bit of those if they’re not releasing PlayStation versions.

UPDATE:Â Vince Zampella of Respawn Entertainment who are developing the title has tweeted revealing that he didn’t find out about this exclusivity deal until recently, saying that it was only exclusive at launch for focus reasons and the rest was EA’s deal.
Always MS exclusive at launch, great partner and focus is good for a startup. EA made a deal for the rest, we only found out recently =(

He went on to confirm that it’s only the first Titanfall that’s exclusive to the platform – it seems to be something similar to the Mass Effect situation we had this generation.
@AdanGarciaG Of course we will, just not the first Titanfall.

So, Titanfall 2 on PS4? Yes please.
Lyts1985
Considering the Xbox Ones apparent lack of popularity so far, this could be a real own goal :-)
Starman
Its selling out on preorders alone, a lot of the unpopularity is just from Sony fans who wouldn’t get one anyway. And I don’t see how an exclusive deal on a highly anticipated game is an own goal?
Lyts1985
I don’t agree – a lot of people I’ve spoken to or heard from on forums and in the real world are 360 owners but are going PS4 next gen.
Preorders yes – let’s wait and see how that translates to sales. And how many preorders were available in comparison to the PS4?
It’ll be an own goal if MS don’t get a decent install base in comparison to the competition – if the majority of next gen take ups go to PS4. Less Xbones means less Titanfall sales…
Ultimately, I’m not saying MS won’t shift a shed load of Ones but if sales go in favour of Sony (which, like it or not, is very likely) then EA have cut off over 50% of their potential market. Seems a daft move to me, regardless of how much MS are paying them!
Starman
I don’t think exclusive deals are as straightforward as it would seem. Otherwise why would Capcom make Bayonetta 2 only on the WiiU, or Ubi with ZombiU? Cutting out 99% of the market.
Phizzy
Nintendo paid for Bayonetta 2’s development, without them it wouldn’t have been made.
MrLeeches
This is disappointing, Titanfall is looking very good – if you like that sort of thing.
I would love to know how much this cost MS!
Based on the comments of Major Nelson and some MS execs this wasn’t even on the table just a few weeks ago. My opinion is that MS are a little nervous. Sony are doing lots of things right.
Despite my disappointment I would rather Sony do what they have been doing and put money into smaller titles that push the boundaries…..The first party studios will do the rest, we just have to wait and see exactly what that is as we are still waiting on announcements from most of them.

Surely people aren’t stupid enough to buy a gaming console based on one game? If they are, god bless them.
Eldave0
People bought N64s just for Goldeneye, PS1s just for FF7, PS3s just for Uncharted – it happens a lot more than you think. Hell, a lot of people are basically buying PS4s for Killzone now Driveclub has been delayed. Exclusives separate consoles and make them more appealing.
Besides, it depends how many games you plan on buying each year. Titanfall will probably be one of three/four gaming purchases I make in 2014, which immediately makes it very much worthwhile.
Starman
Agreed Eldave0, games are what makes you get a console, certainly doesn’t make you stupid. If Warhawk 2 was on ps4 I’d get one just for that.
jimmy-google
I’ve never known anyone to buy a console for just one game. Yes exclusives separate them but it’s multiple exclusives not just one.
People may ave bought N64’s for Goldeneye but it was also in the knowledge that there were games like Mario, Perfect Dark, Banjo Kazooie etc… You only have to look at the PS1 sales on the PSN to see the popularity of the Crash, Spyro and GTA games plus Gran Turismo.
With how tight most peoples funds are I can’t see many basing their purchase on one exclusive who’s sequels won’t even remain exclusive. Especially when you get play it on the 360.
Airou
I don’t see how thats stupid.

I still don’t understand what the fuss is all about with this game. Looks like it’s been majorly hyped in my opinion. Similar think happened with Resistance on the PS3 when it was released, as in my opinion I thought it sucked!
hazelam
so, being ea, that’s a year until the next one comes out.
right?
cam_manutd
It doesn’t look overly original if I am being honest. It plagirises elements from Mirrors Edge (Free running), Killzone (Jetpacks-hell jetpacks have long been in use in FPS’-remember Agent Under Fire MP?) Fear (mechs etc).
It does run smoothly sure but its always online. Only expansive always online games work imo such as Warhawk and Planetside 2. MAG was hit and miss. Killzone and Battlefield over this but hey if you have an XB1 on pre-order, this is essential. For PS owners, not so much.
And to those saying this will be GOTY 2014-I have one game just the one that will be better than it- MGS5. Bye xD
