As the PlayStation 4 looms, Netflix on TVs enters a new generation with a redesign, which streamlines the app, making for a much smoother and ultimately better designed experience.
Now, the information shows up at the top left rather than the right hand side, along with three images from the highlighted content, which provide more context for the title. There’s also a secondary bit of info as well as the blurb, which delivers a “you might like this if…” or more information about the cast and airing channel.
It seems good, and the TV show episode selector is much smoother and easier to use, with images from each episode rather than just a huge list – it’s like what we’ve seen with Netflix originals before.
The search also seems snappier, and it’s generally much easier to use, particularly on Xbox 360 which now supports Kinect voice commands. Hopefully it’ll be the same case on PS4 and Xbox One.
The update is rolling out now, and it’s on my PS3 already, but might take up to two weeks to show up on yours. From what I’ve seen, it’s a good improvement.
