Bungie has released a lot of information to Game Informer about upcoming title Destiny, which focuses on everything from settings, characters, classes and gameplay.
While players will take on the role of a human Guardian there will be four other races present within the game universe, most of which seem to be intent of wiping humanity out. These four races are Vex, a machine race. The Hive who live on ships. The Cabal, who seem to have taken inspiration from the ancient Roman empire. Then there are The Fallen who are space pirates.
Players will be able to have multiple characters to use in the game, and they can each be upgraded with upgrades dependent on the chosen class. There are also Focuses, which are the characters main ability, but these can be changed throughout the course of the game. Focuses have 2o levels to them.
Warlocks, Titans and Hunters are the confirmed classes, so in a sense magic, tanks and stealth. Players also have access to vehicles to move around and between the worlds.
All players will share the same world instead of being spread across different servers, with focus on co-op play. However if you wish to tackle quests alone then you can. Matchmaking won’t be invasive with most of it happening without interfering with play. The map environments will be dynamic.
There are five confirmed locations for players to explore which include the Moon, Venus, Mars, Old Russia, and The Tower. The final location acts like a hub where players can trade items and take on quests, while the other four areas is where much of the action will take place.
While the game’s story has an ending Bungie is planning on updating content including new plots, quests and locations, as well things like gear and weapons. Destiny is an MMO in all but name as Bungie don’t want to use that term to describe it.
There will be a beta available to try Destiny out, and it will be coming to PS3 and PS4 first.

Not a big Bungie fan personally (I enjoyed Halo 1 but that’s about as far as it goes), but the co-op aspect of this might be enough incentive for me to check it out.

Does anyone know if character progress unlocked on one platform will transfer to another? In other words, thinking of getting this on PS3 and hoping unlocks will carry over to PS4.
Is character data linked to a bungie account? So It should transfer to all platforms…Looked for info, found not very much.
