It might seem like an absolute age away, but I guarantee you that by the time Destiny spins up in your disc drive, it will seem like no time at all.
Bungie’s next game, Destiny, has had a surprisingly firm release date announced, for September 9th next year. Prior to this statement, which is presented in a rather grandiose fashion on Bungie.net, the release was pencilled in for Spring 2014, but has now slipped from this estimate.
We can only assume that they felt they needed more time to develop the game and deliver on the potential of the universe they are creating. Also, it just so happens that 9/9/14 is a pleasingly repetitious date, and works in that format on both sides of the ocean, so I’m personally hoping that it’s a simultaneous worldwide launch. It just wouldn’t be the same to get it on 12/9/14…
Along with the game itself being delayed, this also means that the beta has been pushed back to next summer, though it is still coming to PlayStation 3 and 4 before other platforms.
Source: Bungie.net, via lots of people on twitter, but I think Davs was the main one.

Damn it, I was looking forward to this in the next few months, I wonder how many triple A’s we’ll actually get on PS4 during the first quarter or if were going to have to wait the better part of another year before we have something worth while to look forward to?

Yeah I’m hoping watch dogs doesn’t get delayed anymore. Plus no more videos for it! I’m avoiding them as it is, but they must’ve put out about 2 hours worth of gameplay by now!
Does anyone know when the Destiny Beta might be?

The delay suits me fine, I still have a big backlog of PS3 games to work my way through and won’t be buying a PS4 for quite some time. Been looking forward to Destiny since it was announced.

I feel pretty much the same way. Not uch on the PS4 right now that makes me want to rush out and buy one. Destiny is one of the few games that might push me to make the jump. The Divide being another. Guess I’ll sit on my cash until the middle of next year.

Interested to see more on this, but not overally hyped. I only have a few games now and im not even close to making my way through all of those yet so a delay isnt that bad really.

I still want to see more of Destiny, what I saw at E3 didn’t interest me at all.
Spring is now looking really quiet though. What games have we got coming? Thief and Watch Dogs are the only ones that spring to mind.
TheShepanator
Has there been any details on what the ‘exclusive content’ is that playstation platforms get? It will probably only be timed exclusivity like AC:IV and Watchdogs
The Von Braun
Like ‘gazzagb’, what i’ve seen so far just did not interest me at all.I’m really struggling to get the ‘hype’ behind this, yes it’s developers 1st game post-Halo, but in laymans terms, could someone try and explain the potential draw of this?.
Not wishing to sound like Tim, nice but dim, but so far, it’s just not selling itself to me.

Well, speaking from a purely personal point of view, If I’m going to play an online game, It’s going to be co-op. There is automatically far less e-peen waving going on. And those types of game are far less of a draw for glitchers and hackers.
There will be instanced loot. So you don’t have to worry about ninjas robbing all the good stuff. Meaning I’m far more likely to want to play with randoms, which will increase the amount of opportunity I’ll have to play.
And as ever, a class/exp based leveling system gives you a more long term set of goals to aim at.
They want to get those three systems marrying well together. Which is why I’m interested. Could be a very enjoyable gaming experience. And I do like Bungies art style.
As ever the “BUT” is: There is not really enough gameplay footage to decide if it’s actually going to be good. So, I’m hopeful and will keep an eye on it. Could go either way, ala Brink. But at least Bungie have some form with the Halo multiplayer.

Blimey! Thats a bit later than I expected, but I do have a huge backlog so no worries.

I’m really looking forward to this but a delay isn’t top bad as I have a massive backlog to get through in the meantime.
