Nintendo and Sony have both released firmware updates for their respective handheld consoles, the 3Ds and Vita. The scale of how big the updates are vary with Sony’s not appearing to change much, while Nintendo’s has changed quite a bit.
So, if you’re a Vita owner update 3.01 is live to update and is mandatory. The only hint to what it does is fixing stability issues, which could be part of the maintenance that happened last night.
Meanwhile firmware version V7.0.0-13 for the 3DS is a much more substantial update:
- Users can now create or link a Nintendo Network ID, which is required to use some network services, from within System Settings.
- Nintendo eShop has been updated to support Nintendo Network IDs.
- Users can now view and post to Miiverse from Nintendo 3DS family systems.
- For more information regarding Miiverse, please visit our Miiverse introduction page.
- A notification will now display when software is started and update data is available.
- The previous limit of five system transfers per system has been removed.
- Pressing the L and R Buttons simultaneously will now start the Nintendo 3DS Camera from the HOME Menu.
- Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience.
