Llamasoft’s Minotaur project is all about bringing retro style games to the modern platforms, and the recently announced TxK is set to continue the trend, based on old vector shoot-em-ups, with an emphasis on lots of colour and a good soundtrack. On the blog there is a whole history of the vector based shoot-em-ups listing influences for TxK, including Llamasoft’s own Tempest which was released on Atari’s Jaguar, as well as games like the original Asteroids.
LLamasoft’s TxK is bringing that type of experience to the Vita in February. The game looks and sounds interesting, with factors such as losing a life not affecting progress through a level and a complete absence of boss battles. There will be difficulty curves present in the game, and it appears they’ll be there to make you improve to gain better scores. There appear to be a few different modes including Pure Mode, where you start from the beginning and go consecutively through each level. There is also Reset Best, where you can take on your own high scores and try to beat them. There’s also a Survival Mode where there are three lives given to progress as far as possible through the game, and you don’t get to earn more lives. Bonus Rounds exist too, though not in Survival Mode, where you can earn bonus points.
It looks like it could be a mixture of fun, frustration and also hold the ability to induce headaches due to the explosions of colour present.

As a former Jaguar owner, Tempest 2000 was one of the greatest and most challenging games I have ever played.
This game would seriously make me think about picking up a Vita, it looks awesome.

I’ve still got a Jaguar, I’ve got a Vita, and I can’t wait for this :D

Nice to see another Jaguar owner here! I’m hoping this is more T2K than the nuon only T3K, which really hurts the eyes!
