Sly Cooper Will Be Sneaking Into Cinemas In 2016

Sony’s resident thief raccoon, Sly Cooper, is getting a movie made about his exploits and it is set to release in 2016. The news comes from Facebook courtesy of the the official page, and it is to be directed by Kevin Munroe whose other credits include 2007’s TMNT, executive producer for the Heavenly Sword animated movie, and a producer on the recently announced Ratchet & Clank film too.

The film’s plot will follow the plot of the first Sly Cooper  game where he tries to track down the Thievius Raccoonus, a family heirloom that has taught the Coopers how to become master thieves. It looks like the film will follow the same locations as the games too including Paris, China and Russia. The villain will be Clockwerk, also from the game, who wants to take the Thievieus Raccoonus and end the Cooper thief line for good.

The film will also see Sly’s companions, Bentley Turtle and Murray Hippo, join in on the adventure. I really enjoyed the Sly Cooper games and if its a straight story conversion from game to movie then this could be good.

  1. Sly looks good! Is it just me or does sly remind me of disney’s Robin Hood, hopefully it’s as funny as the game, the film has potential

  2. I sure hope it will be a lot more colourful than then screens show. Sly games were always very colourful.

  3. I only started the first Sly game the other day… got my Platinum last night :)

Pretty good game despite it’s age. Could translate pretty well into a movie.

  4. That trailer seems to capture the spirit of the game’s humour well.
