News Snatch: Strider, Scandals And Taylor Swift Street Fighter

Time for another Snatch of news, starting with a few more screens from Strider on PS4, including a large and rather unfriendly robotic ape thing who looks like an ex of mine.

A bug report seems to indicate a PC version of Grand Theft Auto V is on the way. Which it is, it blatantly is, quite why Rockstar are keeping schtum is anybody’s guess.

The PS4, PS3, and PS Vita versions of Zen Pinball 2 is to be updated with Super League Football tables as DLC.

Scandal Snatch Special

Cinemablend have tallied up the total number of YouTube subscribers who were exposed to Microsoft’s “Say nice things about Xbox One and we will pay you” agreement with Machinima and it’s a whopping 11,789,990 people.

Meanwhile, King, publishers of Candy Crush Saga, managed to make themselves unpopular by trying to register “Candy” as a trademark.

It then emerged that an indie developer had their game cloned on the orders of the King management. It appears King had told another developer that the creators of Scamperghost had backed out of a deal, so they cloned the game anyway.

This was not the case, King and the Scamperghost team had not signed any contract. King have now removed their clone game, Pac Avoid, for the iTunes store and released a statement:

“King does not clone other peoples’ games. King believes that [intellectual property] — both our own IP and that of others — is important and should be properly protected. Like any prudent company, we take all appropriate steps to protect our IP in a sensible and fair way. At the same time, we are respectful of the rights and IP of other developers.”

The team that cloned have since responded to the statement:

The claim that “King had all this new ideas for the game, which they knew were good, but no game to implement it in” is a complete lie, and no further input or instructions were given beyond “clone the game”.

“I believe that the difference in the [PS4 and Xbox One] is not that great,” said Microsoft Senior Director of Product Management, Albert Penello, desperately trying to avoid criticisms that the Xbox One version of Tomb Raider doesn’t run as fast as the PS4 copy.

It appears GAME are expanding there trade in service to include cameras, laptops and hard drives. “Not a surprise considering how much money it brings in for CEX”, explained my mysterious and unnamed source.

And Finally, Taylor Swift vs Ryu… FIGHT!

  1. LOL @ the Ryu video :D

  2. The Ryu video is great XD

  3. i think i watched that video a dozen times in a row and it still keeps making me laugh.

  4. Re the game story, I’m baffled as to what they’re doing. My town had a Game (pretty much games only, plush looking store) and Gamestation (retro consoles, collectables, few electronics and almost intentionally a bit run down). They close down Gamestation, and now seem hell bent on recreating it under the Game brand – they’ve even gone for the same slightly tired layout of the shop.

I really want a strong game retailer on the high street, but I fear for their future

  5. Looking forward to Castlevania 2: LoS – although I’m a little disappointed it won’t be appearing on PS4. At least, not yet…

  6. Great snatch as usual!
