Black Flag DLC To Become PS-Exclusive Standalone Game

Ubisoft has announced it will launch Assassin’s Creed IV: Freedom Cry as its own standalone game later this month.

Exclusive to PlayStation formats, the DLC-turned-downloadable title will hit Sony’s digital store front on February 18th. This will then be followed up a week after when the game becomes available on PC.

It’s an unexpected move yet a smart one at the same time. Freedom Cry could easily be a stepping stone for those erring on the edge of buying Black Flag. Similarly it opens the doors for those who may have already traded the game in or who just want a smaller, more compact Assassin’s Creed title to tide them over.

You can read our Freedom Cry review here in which we praise the DLC for its optimum amount of content, despite some nasty bugs and an overriding sense of familiarity.

  1. Won’t be buying this, I hate anything that touches on slavery what so ever. I remember watching 12 year a slave, came out there angry lol

    • I imagine its not pro slavery. Telling stories about the bad shit that humans are capable of is a good thing.

    • Hopefully you don’t feel as strongly about shooting people in the head or the entire games industry will be dead to you. ;-)

      • Lol ha! Na I just think some subjects should not be highlighted in video games slavery being one of them

  2. Any news on a price?

    • 14.99 in dollars so probably 11.99 or just 14.99£

  3. Any idea if it will be included in Black Flags season pass?
