Ridiculously Named Game Somehow Manages To Get On iTunes

Sometimes you just have to look and wonder. And then wonder a bit more. Then ponder, scratch you chin and muse. Somehow the following game has passed through all of Apple’s approval processes without anyone raising so much as an eyebrow. The game in question is called…

whut

The game itself is now free but comes with lots of lovely in-app purchases and seems to be a platforming game featuring a spinning hedgehog who surprisingly, considering the huge amount of trademarks broken in the game title, is not blue.

If this game was submitted to the PSN or Xbox Live it would be instantly dismissed, quite why Apple can approve such a trademark breaking game is somewhat of a wonder.

  1. Game of the year, calling it now.

  2. The SEO of this game muat be amazing.

    • I was thinking something along the same lines. All other SEO specialists had better start looking for new work. :-P

  3. My favourite (long-ish) game name was Escape from the Planet of the Robot Monsters (Amiga). Tune was so catchy too! :-)

    • I love that game, but the winning title has to be the classic ZX Spectrum game:

“Attack of the Mutant Zombie Flesheating Chickens From Mars (starring Zappo the Dog)”

      • Haha! Still got that on tape :)

      • This must be where London Funk Allstars got the title for their album ‘Flesh Eating Disco Zombies Vs The Bionic Hookers From Mars’!

    • Ah, good times, I played that on the Atari ST, always fun on co-op, shame about the game breaking bug on the flying boss though quite a way in. He would just fly off and never come back. Wouldn’t mind seeing a remake!

    • Haha! Me and my bro bought this on tape for the amstrad, it was freaking hard we could never get off the first level!

  4. Of course I now have to download this game to see how bad it is!

  5. Clearly that title is designed to be caught by pretty much any popular search term you may use…

    Doubt it’ll last long!

  6. There’s also a Super Hedgehog equivalent.

  7. i bet it’s still better than Dungeon Keeper. ^_^

i’ve seen apps that try to get found in as many searches as possible, but dayum, that’s going a bit far.

  8. I recognise the icon, it’s been out for years of its the same one.

    • they probably nicked that as well.

  9. Seriously though… Apple has an app vetting process, which a few quite decent sounding apps fail to get through… how did… what.. but…
