With all the excitement surrounding Titanfall these days, it’s perhaps a little unsurprising that an endeavouring NeoGAF member, RazorUK, has dug into the data files in the beta and uncovered more information about the final game.
In addition to a lengthy list of perks, weapons and more which you can find here for the curious, a list of 15 maps was discovered:
- Angel City
- Fracture
- Colony
- Relic
- Airbase
- Boneyard
- Corporate
- Outpost 207
- Lagoon
- Rise
- Smugglers Cove
- Overlook
- Nexus
- O2
- Training Grounds
Angel City and Fracture are the two maps in the beta, while it’s debateable if Training Grounds will feature in online gameplay or will remain purely within the tutorial. From the sound of it, I reckon that O2 could be a futuristic view of what happens to the Millennium Dome/O2 Arena in this wartorn sci-fi setting.
More confusing is the list of modes discovered and the conjecture as to what they mean:
- AT – Attrition?
- TDM – Team Deathmatch?
- CTF – Capture the Flag?
- LTS – Last Titan Standing?
- HP – Hardpoint Capture?
- VM – Variety Mode (a mix of all the other modes listed, sans campaign)
- Campaign Multiplayer
Capture the Flag and Team Deathmatch would appear to be the only additional modes compared to what is in the beta, with the Campaign Multiplayer featuring a story-based spin on proceedings and VM maybe standing for Variety Mode which would cycle through modes. It could be considered a bit light on game modes, if this is actually what makes it into the final game.
Most intriguing are the mentions of split screen in the developer commands, as posted by no1dead on reddit, but I wouldn’t be surprised if these were actually just leftovers from Portal 2’s version of the Source engine, on which Titanfall is based.

Looking good for debut game from a studio with less than 80 people (for comparison, Bungie has 350), very good.
A question for those who’ve played the beta, if you don’t mind:
Are the bots off-putting or bad in any way?
DixNeuf
When you say ‘bots’, are you referring to the titans or the AI grunts?
beeje13
Ah sorry, I can see the confusion. I meant the AI. I’ve seen snippets of gameplay and they just seem to walk around offering no resistance.
Stefan L
They don’t do too much – an Auto-Titan can be very dangerous though – the AI is there as a little distraction and to rack up points for your side in Attrition, with the Pilots running amok.
beeje13
Ok thanks alot.
Somehow I’ll have to get around to trying this myself. Add that to the gaming to do list… :|

I personally aren’t very fond of the bots. They’re slow and dumb compared to players and the mixture comes off a bit jarring. I don’t mind mixing players amd ai, but I’d rather one powerful and dangerous ai per team than a dozen zombies.
The Titans kinda fit that role, but they feel like mechs and pets more than allies.
OneShotWook
Hello beejee i have to say that personally i can’t f’n stand them.Cancelled my preorder today mostly because of them.
They refuse to kill you,the whole idea behind them seems to be a quick farm whilst they run into a wall so you can quickly get your titan drop. Not such a bad thing but in my opinion the titan play although fun is a good deal dumber than the possibilities present in the ground game.

Still far too much hype for a game which represents the failure of the current game market. MS pays shitloads of money, not to make a better game, or sell it better or anything positive. Nope, they pay shitloads so that people are excluded from the party, that PS owners cannot play it although it would have been better over here.
Cannot understand TSA fuels the hype and gives it that much PR for free.
beeje13
My understanding is that Respawn themselves wanted to launch on Xbox only first because they are familiar with it and Microsoft from their IW days. I think it was later that EA signed lifetime rights to the first game with MS, which I agree leaves a bitter taste in the mouth.
Starman
Its the first big release since the X1 released 3 months ago, and its made by the creators of the biggest selling franchise in history. It deserves to be hyped up for ffs.
Andrewww
The biggest selling franchise in history? Thought that was the other, the one with a lot more quality in every way. If you’re right, that would have been a failure on a more epic scale, almost a failure of mankind. (Ok, I’m slightly exaggerating now.)
Starman
I genuinely haven’t a clue what you’re on about Andrew!
Stefan L
It’s because from what we’ve seen, we think it’s good.
Would you be complaining if it was the other way around? Are you similarly angered by Insomniac’s XBO exclusive, Sunset Overdrive, or Nintendo bankrolling and publishing Bayonetta 2 and Lego City Undercover?
Anyway, whether directly or indirectly, Microsoft’s money will have gone towards the development of the game, and the deal will have been signed well before the PS4 and XBO were finalised and had millions of consoles sold, helping to pay off the risks associated with launching a franchise so early in a console’s life.
Andrewww
Oops, the comment below should’ve been an answer to yours… :o)

To put this in perspective, I’m not ‘angered’ by anything. I just get the impression I currently can’t read TSA without having like three Titanfall news items every day, and for my liking, that’s too much.
Be assured, I found it very odd there being an outcry of ‘betrayal’ when Kojima went on stage with MS back then, or when other games went multiplatform. I do understand if some games are not ported/developed for some platforms for financial reasons, but generally I do support games should be available to as many people as possible and not be restricted by platform. But of course, I’m currently only affected myself, if a game’s not coming to the PS universe, as that’s the planet I chose to live on. (But that wasn’t the reason in the first place.)
Ok, I’ll skip the next 100 Titanfall stories, and I’ll keep out of their comments section.
Stefan L
Yeah, it’s pretty Titanfall heavy at the moment (though not quite 3 a day!) all because the beta is going on and news/previews from that. I doubt there’ll be much more from it.
Resolutions and frame rates, on the other hand. ;)

Oh it must be true if someone on neogaf says so. Neogaf is always correct isn’t it
