Battlefield 4 is right in the business end of its Player Appreciation Month. As part of this month long attempt to demonstrate how much they love us, they’re going to be giving away free shortcut kits for the game that help newcomers catch up with those who have been improving their load out since day one.
The first of these is available right now via the in-game storefront and it will reward latecomers, or slow learners with better hand guns. This first kit will be available until February 24th. There’s another kit coming next week, from February 15th to March 4th, and that will provide you a similar shortcut to better grenades.
If you’re a Battlefield Premium member, there will also be two extra free shortcut kits – one per week – starting with DMRs this week and moving on to shotguns in the second week of the promotion. There are more detailed instructions on how to claim your freebies on the official site.
I think it’s nice to see the developers encourage newcomers by giving them a free way to catch up with some of those who have been playing the game since release but many of the comments on the post seem to range from “just play the game and earn them” to “how about you fix the game now?”

It’s a bit of an outrage really if you ask me. Plenty of people are completely unable to pay through the single player campaign because of a major save bug.
If they’re that bothered about “player appreciation” perhaps they should fix that?

Exactly, I’d feel much more appreciated if I could at least find out the whole single player story!
Instead I get to play throught the first couple of missions several times over

They desperately need to fix the poxy game. It’s reallyu annoying me now that I haven’t played it for about a week because of it.
There is no point in giving out free this and that if the game is literally broken. Concentrate on fixing the game first.

I’d discourage any new player from starting Battlefield 4 until they’ve fixed the mess that is online.

Was playing on PS4 last night. Enjoyable first match, then locked on loading screen. Restart and start another match which crashes out after a while. Check internet connection which was fine. Try again and can’t connect to any match.

Same as you last night. Was playing fine then suddenly all the servers disappeared. first time that’s happened.
Generally, there have been bugs here and there and some issues, but not constant thankfully. The game itself is fantastic online, I really do enjoy it, it’s just the extra work it needs to solve it. a shame it’s gone that way but hopefully the majority of the commuity will stick around.

I think I’d be more willing to believe they appreciate and care about their customers if they finished the game before they released it. I won’t be getting BF5 until I know it works.

Servers still show 54 of 64 (7) – which translates to 54 players out of 64 allocated slots but 7 people are in a queue.
I am being shot at, hit the dirt behind a steel wall, but due to bad networking their bullet has already killed me and I die lying behind 3inches of steel. My connection is 74Mbp/s down and 20 up with a 18ms ping and open NAT! So it is bad networking! For example:

Not trying to promote myself but in the first two sections of the video you clearly see me counter someone before my original shot kills him mid counter. I then snipe someone who seems to get hit a second later and 10ft away from my original shot. I feel for the guys as this happens to me (and others complain about it) all the time. If I am not shot and I take cover – I expect to be in cover and not hit by magic curling bullets!!!
I could list so many faults but I am with others who agree this game is incomplete, ruining any fun you have with bugs and shoddy development! Oh, and the single player crashed on me (both XB1 and PS4) so many times I had to restart the campaign at least 4 times to get the Plat!
But hey, shortcut packages, £50 for the game, £40 for my Premium and they release shortcut packages before finishing BetaField 4! Tw@s!

I’ve been playing since release and I’ve only had a few hassles with online (some lag and rubberbanding) and I’ve had no hassles with single player. Although I seem to be in the minority.

You should contact Dice and ask them to make you a laser gun that you can download. See if they’ll make you a nice Speeder/Hover Bike thing too which you can use instead of a quad. Don’t ask for a Ti-Fighter or X-Wing though, that would just be stupid.
