UK Charts 24/02/14: Lego Games Everywhere You Look

The popularity and staying power of Lego games is simply remarkable, as The Lego Movie Videogame manages to stay in the top spot of the UK charts for a second week. It’s quite likely to stay there for at least another week.

It’s not just the top spot, as last autumn’s Lego Marvel Super Heroes is in 5th, Lego Batman 2 in 17th and Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga sits in 18th. There’s a whopping 9 Lego games feature within the top 40. With Aliens: Colonial Marines also sticking it out in the top 20, you can just imagine the monstrous success of a Lego Aliens game!

The rest of the top 20 is going to look fairly familiar, with FIFA 14, CoD: Ghosts and Battlefield 4 squabbling over 2nd, 3rd and 4th place. It’s not until 9th place that we see a new entry, as Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is unable to capitalise on the critical acclaim it has received with gangbusting sales. Similarly, Rayman Legends’ PS4 and XBO release could only push it back up to 10th.

  1. While the Lego games are a lot of fun, and the humour is really good, what annoys me is the bugs and problems pointed out by players and reviews, tend to carry over from one game to the next and are seemingly completely ignored by the developers. Is it really that much to ask that the awkward and confusing camera angles in various levels, button mapping which confuses the game as to what the player wants to actually do, etc are improved slightly in each new game? It’s a shame as a apart from that they are really good.
