Counting beyond two is finally beginning to take its toll on poor Stefan and his time with Threes! is being impacted as a result, with his points haul stalling around 10,000. He’s sought solace in pinball via Zen Pinball 2’s new football-themed table followed by a flipper-rattling spate of Pinball Arcade. The odd score into the hundreds of millions, depending on the table, means he’s been able to sleep despite his current Threes! score.
“A little bit slow and imprecise” is the working title for Peter’s autobiography how Peter describes Plants Vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare though he nevertheless reckons it is “still quite enjoyable”. Continuous action and “the ability to have someone in the tablet- or Kinect-enabled Boss Mode meaning that less able members of the family can still have fun and join in” are what keep the enjoyment ticking over.
Predictably, my least favourite part of it is the online multiplayer, which obviously suffers from all the same problems I find in almost every other online multiplayer shooter – lack of pacing and rhythm and unclear objectives. Co-op mode is a lot of fun though.
He’s also the latest among us to succumb to Threes!, a game that joins the long list of those he’s “not very good at”. His low scores are all so far the fault of things like “a sequence of five red 2s coming in a row or something equally as impassable” or so he reckons. Perhaps the real cause is something else? You might think that but I couldn’t possibly comment…
Dan has spent an octet of hours playing Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright, which sounds like a court case the former is bound to lose. “It’s an enjoyable crossover so far, despite the large chunks of little else but talking!” South Park and the Stick of Truth is currently under his reviewers gaze and while he can’t say too much now he did let slip that “those who have it on pre order shouldn’t be disappointed”.
Even before our regular readers finish reading the words Killzone: Shadow Fall you’ll know we’ve reached Tuffcub’s gaming exploits. He’s feeling quite chuffed with himself after “Hey, are you Tuffcub from TSA? I read that site all the time!” was shouted across the multiplayer battlefield at him.
Despite the tribulations previously recorded within these posts he says that he’s “finally got to grips with Don’t Starve. Well, sort of.”
Managed to build a fire pit and an Invention Engine thing but that was about it, I couldn’t find any of the other bits I needed to build other stuff. Got bored. Turned off.
There’s no update to his PS Vita gaming this week as his handheld has taken an inadvertent holiday on the Isle of Wight. Instead he tried Syndicate on his PS3. “It looks AWFUL now, so blurry compared to PS4 games. Did a bit more in Ni No Kuni instead, which is just a joy to play.” Additionally he’s still generating umpteen cookies per second in Cookie Clicker and still doesn’t have the faintest idea why, or how to stop.
Dom has a tail of woe to report that ends with an imminent silver lining:
I was deeply enjoying Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition. However I managed to discover a game breaking bug which corrupted my game save, losing me my seven hours playtime and making me very very grumpy. Even more annoying was that when I went online it turned out I wasn’t the only one and both the PS4 version and the Xbox One have various issues.
Either quality assurance departments are getting worse, or publishers just don’t care any more about putting out finished games! It makes even less sense when it’s a port of a year old game! At least Game gave me all my money back, and as it turns out I can replay it when it’s free on PS+ next week.
‘Oh noes too much LEGOs’ has become something of a refrain for him as the repetition required to get to the next humorous cutscene in LEGO Marvel Superheroes is getting to him. Only the fact that his son is still enjoying playing it is keeping him persevering at the moment.
If your own interpretation of the regular ‘Don’t drink and drive’ campaigns is that it means that you should always pull over to the side of the road to take a swig before driving off again then you’ll understand the rules of Beerio Kart which was a big feature of Blair’s birthday celebrations this week.
Before that, while still fairly sober, he’d been enjoying Mario Kart Wii and Smash Bros. with his friends. Said birthday did deliver him an iPad and of all the amazing creative uses you can put that slice of technology to him opted for playing Threes! on a bigger screen than usual. Puts the kibosh on the “older and wiser” saying as far as Blair goes, huh.
Have you played any video games while drunk this week?

My gaming time this week has been spent primarily blowing the absolute shit out of loads of huge bugs, robots and spaceships in EDF 2025.
When not destroying the aforementioned enemies I’ve been playing through Diablo 3 again for the upteenth time as it’s such a fun game.
I was hoping to make a start on Thief on PS4 tonight but unfortunately it didn’t arrive so I’ll need to wait until tomorrow … hopefully.

Nice House of Cards reference, there.

Damn you, I can’t beat my own Threes! score of 8,000 let alone 10k!!! It’s the most addictive game ever, like a more mathematical Rubix cube.
This week I’ve mostly been playing GTA, doing mostly flying related missions/collectables. The game is actually rather stunning from the air, it’s incredible what Rockstar have managed to achieve on PS3.
I had the displeasure of working through some old PS3 demos to clear some HDD space – Resident Evil Operation Racoon City has to be one of the worst games I’ve played on PS3.
Avenger
Mainly Killzone Mercs (which I’ve properly finished now).
However I’ve just started playing TxK in the two days and it’s utterly brilliant. I can’t recommend highly enough as an arcade shooter. It’s not the sort of throw away experience that you get in the arcade either. Your progress is saved, there are tons of levels, and lots of mixes for each level.
Also started Dungeon Hunter Alliance, which seems so far to be right up my street for RPG grinds.
ron_mcphatty
Also Killzone Mercs, which I’m only just starting!! Anyone whose keen there’s a meet on Tuesday.
Taylor Made
Platinum FIFA after some hard coaching from Youles “keep trying Taylor, it will get easy (match day challenge)”
Tried get back into KZ:M & realised why I don’t like it, touch melee put me off. Just purchased Thief, I think the game so far is brilliant, just goes to show that reviews are just an individual opinion
Youles
Haha, glad you got it mate ;)

Just Infamous 1 this week – almost at the end of my (mostly) good karma playthough. Think I might take a break and play something else before tackling hard difficulty and evil karma though.
Steelhead
Still trying to juggle Persona 3 Portable, work and a newborn infant at the moment. It’s slow going but I’m hanging in there.
Lyts1985
Mostly Family Game Night 3 on a trophy hunt… Just need to try and mop up 4 more trophies and hopefully that’ll be my 6th plat in as many weeks tomorrow :-)
Aside from that I played a bit of Cubixx (read: a lot of Cubixx… Too bloody addictive!) and Chime Super Deluxe and not much else. Work has been absolutely manic and all I really want to do in my spare time is sleep at the mo!
Still, finally something “new” to get my teeth into next week with the arrival of Dead Nation on PS4! About time as I’m really struggling to find games to play now… As the above exemplifies I think! Failing that, I may even treat myself to Donkey Kong on the Wii U :-)
Lyts1985
Just got the Family Game Night 3 platinum – that’s 6 in 6 weeks, 9 since December, a record for me :-) this new game drought is paying off lol.
Now to find something else to play – I’m struggling to find a simple platinum to aim for in my list now…
freezebug2
Well done and great job with the platinum tally since December, I think I’ve only managed around 6 or 7 plats since then ;)
I finally managed to complete the career achievement challenges in MNR road trip Vita one of them was a major hold up, Tour 5 race 4, finish 1st and avoid all blockers. Jeeeeez that one took me days, I didn’t have too many problems with the rest of the challenges but that one was a total nightmare!!
Just the online creation shizz left to do now but that’s another story!
element666
I manged to snag the platinum for Lego the movie on PS4, it was such a fun game!
I think I may start DMC this weekend. I cannot wait for Infamous Second Son!
McProley
I’ve been playing Some of the Killzone Shadow Fall single player. Its rather enjoyable and its a nice visual treat too. I also got 100% of the trophies for Contrast. Granted, its not the best looking game by a long shot, but I had superb fun playing it. Most enjoyable.
The last 2 days however have been jam packed with Ys: Memories of Celceta on Vita. Again, not amazing graphics wise, but a hugely fun action RPG. I can’t seem to put it down. And as Blair said in his article earlier, thats what gaming is all about: enjoyment :)

Has anyone here been playing Banished? I love it. It’s insanely difficult and cruel, but it’s still awesome to play.
Hopefully once the Dev releases modding tools, people will start making objectives or something to give the game a bit more ‘purpose’.
