Xbox Live went a bit wonky (that’s a technical term) last night, meaning many many gamers could not play the online only Titanfall.
The services was described as “limited” for five hours, “If you are having issues signing into Xbox Live, we are aware of it and actively working on the issue,” tweeted Larry Hyrb.
It is now the turn of PC gamers to suffer problems, multiple users on Reddit and the EA forums have reported the error code “Lost Connection To Server Disconnect: ORIGIN error retrieving player data from storage – code 503.”
EA are aware of the error have just posted the following note:
Titanfall is currently experiencing connection problems, which means you may not be able to connect to online play, or even might get dropped from an online match you’re currently playing.
Rest assured that we’re addressing this problem and will provide updates as soon as possible.
Thank you for your patience.
EA have also posted a list of known glitches and bugs which you can find here. One of the problems has a rather drastic solution;
Some players are reporting installation issues with Titanfall when using a hard drive formatted FAT32. Due to file-size restrictions inherent to FAT32 systems, some of the larger files within the Titanfall installation are unable to be managed by these hard drives.To successfully install Titanfall, make sure your hard drive is formatted NTFS.

UPDATE:Â According to the game’s twitter feed, the issues should now be fixed.
Our team has resolved the PC connectivity issues and you should now be able to connect to matchmaking servers. #Titanfall

Why can you choose the file system anyway? The only reason for FAT32 is legacy compatibility and, presumably, that is not needed on the X1 so why doesn’t it automatically format to NTFS?
(We’ll ignore the fact that NTFS is shit too)

Sim City, Battlefield 4 and now Titanfall.

Indeed, and every other hugely hyped multiplayer experience, it’s a broken record and unfortunately should be expected.

‘broken’ is right!

Bit harsh to compare a few hours of iffy connections on PC to Sim city or BF4’s problems.
