Roll7 Says You’re Not A Hero In Their New Game, Coming To PC & New Gen Consoles

Roll7, the minds behind OlliOlli, has announced new game Not A Hero, which will be published by Devolver Digital. The game will be a 2¼D cover based shooter with plenty of running along too. According to the press release the game won’t have any mercy if you make the wrong move when engaged in any of the various gun battles, all of which will occur across five districts in a city where Bunny Lord, an anthropomorphic rabbit, is running for mayor. As the hero of the tale, named Steve, you’ll be tasked with wiping out the bad elements of this land on orders from Bunny.

Roll7’s creative director, John Ribbins, came up with one of the best quotes from a press release I’ve ever read.

“The Roll7 team was less than enthused about partnering with a publisher of questionable morals and hygiene but through a series of legal maneuvers and old fashioned black magic here we are – stuck with Devolver Digital.”

The game will be using a new engine called IsoSlant which was developed in house, and Not A Hero will release on PC, Mac and new generation consoles at some point in Autumn 2014. Some screens were also released.

  1. Looks, and in fact sounds, a bit like a side scrolling Hotline Miami. Still OlliOlli was great so hoping for more good stuff from Roll7.

  2. 2 1/4D someone explain please?

    • There’ll be a better explanation in due course, but it’s basically a little joke on the 2.5D term for 3D graphics on a 2D plane.

It’s 2D graphics, styled to give a faux-3D look to the scenery, and with a few mechanics so you can shift in and out of various forms of cover.
