You might know Phil Spencer already, as he’s been working at Microsoft since 1988, 26 years ago, and a huge part of Xbox since its inception, leading to him becoming manager of Microsoft Studios and then corporate vice president of Xbox. He also plays a part in their E3 conferences, so you might have seen them there.
But this video is a nice insight, as he discusses with Microsoft’s Major Nelson his history at the company, and generally shows that he’s a decent guy.
He seems very game-focused, which is good, and says that in his discussions with Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, they “have the ambition to build the best gaming console for fans” with the Xbox One. That means that they aim for the system to play the best games, but also have the best entertainment.
It’s quite exciting, and shows how Microsoft have really changed their attitude since the Xbox One reveal under one year ago, where they pushed TV and entertainment, with little focus on games.

They had to change or the X1 would have sunk.

If Spencer had been head of xbox 5 years ago I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t have closed as near as many 1st party devs, and launched a relatively weak console.

Sony already built the best gaming console for gamers, they understood you couldn’t skimp on spec and hide behind slick marketing to hide that.
This will only play out on one of two ways :
Xbox one will be getting the significantly inferior versions for the rest of this gen
Or (and I hope this doesn’t transpire)
Microsoft will use their clout and money to artificially hold back and delay the ps4 versions.

Building “The Best Gaming Console For Fans” …
They’re working on the Xbox Two already?

Microsoft have just been trying to sell their box soley on WORDS. Sony has been doing it with ACTION! M.S. have been talking themselves into a corner ever since the train wreck @ E3, and I dont trust a word of what comes out of their camp.
