Rumour Has It The Last Guardian Will Get A Release Date “Soon”

The Last Guardian, who is certainly living up to his name in being last, may finally be getting a release date if the latest issue of Famistu is to be believed.

In a feature called “The Truth on 2014′s Rumours” they contacted Sony for more information of the missing game are were told  the publisher is looking for the best chance to announce the title again and, if development proceeds at the current pace, a release date will be announced “soon”.

However, “soon” in Last Guardian time could be ten years from now, so don’t get your hopes up yet.

Recently Sony have said the game is still “in the mix” but refused to comment on which system the Cat-Dog-Bird will arrive on, which seems to hint the game has shifted to PlayStation 4,

Personally I am blaming the long departed TSA writer Murdo for the delay, he reported on the original announcement of the game five years ago (!) and used the sub-headline “Team ICO’s next project is renamed and the previously leaked footage is revamped. Lovely. Now when’s it out?!”

Jixed it he did, jinxed I tell ya.

  1. It’s frankly ridiculous. Does this game actually exist (in some structured form), and if so who is working on it. I don’t mean devs, I mean are there any humans actually working on this, or has it been shoved aside. Maybe E3 will hold some answers. No doubt people will be hoping for a PS4 release now.

    • Team ICO is a real team with real people (Junichi Hosono etc.) They are not working on anything else other than The Last Guardian. As designer/director, Ueda-san’s job is pretty much done (and has been for some time) but don’t think for one second the actual team is vaporware. They exist, and as far as we can tell there is only one project the team is working on at the moment.

  2. I did actually hear a couple of weeks ago that the game was delayed due to the fact they didn’t think the Cat-Dog-Bird would be very appealing to people and they’ve actually changed the creature to a unicorn.
It’s a real rumour, I made it up myself.

    • Or a my little pony. That could have an interesting market to aim at.

      • Good point, they were quite cute to the extent if they existed in real life I may even consider a bit of beastiality.

    • That’s an amazing rumour! I’ve just off to spread it around a bit myself……

      • Good man. If I wasn’t too busy I’d even photoshop a unicorn onto The Last Guardian game case.

  3. One day they’ll say, “It’s existed all along, it’s a super secret area in Shadow of the Colossus that no one found yet!”
    Trololol.

  4. I can’t wait until this is announced so we never have to report on it maybe coming again.

  5. I heard this was being made for Vita now, with an emphasis on micro-transactions..

    • I heard the bird-dogs name is Osama and the boy is called Obama.

    • and touch screen….

      • I heard the whole game was remade from scratch in 2D in a 16 bit retro style and that it’s next month’s PS+ game for PS4.

  6. But will it be 1080p? That is the question.

    • Put it this way… If its on the PS4 and exclusive, I don’t think they’d dare release it at 720p.

  7. The devs working on this game will be in for a shock when it finally gets released and they have to start looking for a REAL job. Do we know if they’re even still alive? Has anyone checked on them?

  8. This game is never going to see the light of day. maybe. 2019-2022 release window. does Duke Nukem ring a bell? does any1 even care anymore ?

  9. E3.
Maybe agent will show up too?
