Bungie are eager to make it up to PlayStation fans for not having Halo on their system, and Activision announced a partnership with PlayStation last November which would see PS3 and PS4 owners get exclusive advanced beta access.
Of course, you’ll need to have pre-ordered the game, but providing you do that and you’ve chosen a participating retailer such as Amazon, GAME or Grainger Games (check those on the Destiny site), you’ll be able to play the beta when it arrives.
And now, according to a slide from within the Activision financials report, that beta is set to launch in July, ahead of the September 9th launch. We’re not sure what that means for Xbox owners – the beta access was only ever “first” rather than completely exclusive, so it’s likely it could come to other consoles in August.
It will be interesting to see how the game turns out – Activision are throwing everything they’ve got behind this, and Bungie are esteemed developers, so it’s likely to be a hit. It’s apparently reaching record pre-orders for a new IP, too, which shows that their confidence just may pay off.

I’ve watched quite a few trailers and read a number of article about Destiny but I just can’t get excited about it. It looks rather generic and frankly unappealing.

Yep, that makes 3 of us… & like Brendan, I’d be pretty damn excited if there was a beta for The Division announced towards the end of the year.

For me its the other way around. So far Destiny strikes me as being an epic adventure, whereas The Division came across as dull and the combat looked very limp in the announcement trailer.

I’m hoping The Division will be a kind of sequel to Ghost Recon: Future Soldier.
I love that game, especially the multiplayer, which proved to be the perfect anecdote to the brainless twitchery of CoD.

It’s a pity a digital purchase isn’t a “participating retailer”. More of your money is going to the dev/publisher and they don’t lose cash on a second hand sale, but you are not included in the Beta.

The slide indicates July 7th for both, but that must be a mistake if playstation has early acceass.
I’m still waiting for something to get me interested in online gaming, not sure if this will be the one though.
